The poor SoCon. I've enjoyed checking the conference ratings in Massey & Sagarin, watching the SoCon rise from relative obscurity to challenge Conf. USA for a position just below the vaunted Missouri Valley and Mountain West. Truly remarkable (and not unnoticed by Rothstein and the like).

Anybody know if the MVC and CUSA are suffering the same purloining as the SoCon?

With the Brewer brothers withdrawing from the transfer portal it looks like ETSU will return four of their top five scorers from this season's team. Freshman Damari Monsanto is the biggest loss. He was the second leading scorer at 11.8 ppg and lead the rebounders with over 7 rpg. at 6'6" 225. Most of the players in the portal from ETSU averaged 1.5 ppg or less.

Supposedly the Brewers wanted to go to the same school but couldn't find a taker (that they wanted to go to.)

With so many players in the portal it is too early to lock in any predictions about next year without a lot of qualifiers.

Thats one thing about the portal, just because you enter doesnt mean you are going to find a place. Trapp from Clempson wound up at Charlotte.

Paladins finished #96 in kenpom and #80 in netrankings. Good place to start next year. Still would like to hear from CBR
A new podcast would be nice.

As of today the favorites would be Furman, Wofford, ETSU, UTC, and Mercer in some order. All have most of their rosters returning. UNCG loses Miller to the pros, 7'1" shotblocker Hayden Koval and 6'8" freshman Jarrett Hensley are following Wes Miller to Cincinnati, and three other regulars have announced transfers but haven't announced new schools. Now that they have a new coach some of those guys might stay. Samford is a mystery. They had good players leave but have some interesting replacements lined up already. VMI and the Citadel lost top players but also have good ones coming back. Western Carolina may have the toughest task to replace their losses - one is going to Colorado, one to TCU, one to Florida Gulf Coast, and two are following their coach to Wintrhop.

Agree, but the only player we lose for sure is Hunter. The others can come back for another year if they choose. Just hoping we have some great recruits coming in.

Not sure that is how it works... Pretty sure only the current seniors were granted an extra year of eligibility, not every single D1 basketball player. I'm under the assumption that guys who were juniors this past season (Bothwell, Slawson, Pugh) will in fact be seniors next year and can only grad transfer if they choose to.

That is what I thought - that only seniors got a free year of eligibility. Multiple online sites say that the rule applies to all players, not just seniors.

Anyone on the team, during the Pandemic season was granted an extra yearif they want it. NG was a junior and now has 2 years of eligibility left. True for all sports.
