The Response

I am always very positive about the furman program and don’t normally let one game have much of an impact but I’ll be honest the Alabama game hurt. Not only because we had the lead for the whole game but the fact that it was somewhat of a system loss. What I mean by that is it was different than Cincinnati where we simply didn’t play very well and didn’t shoot the ball the way we all know we can. Everyone knows we’re not going to kill it on the boards or be more physical than other teams but the other aspects that we excel in make up for that. That’s what I mean by a system loss, our rebounding decencies and inability to contain drives without fouling lost us the game(and bad calls). One could look at that and conclude that our current team and system won’t be able to beat really good teams because of that. However I think this team and CBR are going to respond in a big way. We could all see that we have the potential to score and keep up with almost anyone in the country. I think our players are going to make it a point to be tougher and play a full 40 minutes without losing any confidence when adversity hits. I think they’re going to refuse to let our size and Strength be this teams downfall and take a lot of pride in that from now on. After those losses it’s tough to say the same ole “we will learn from this” but I think they truly will and we will see that the rest of the season. And when we run into another power team hopefully in the NCAA Tournament, our guys will be locked and loaded ready to play a mentally and physically tough, full 40 minute game.

Yeah, this one hit me harder than the Cincy loss for the reasons above.

Huge believer in CBR and what we are doing. We generally win the games we should win, which is 75% of the games we play, but we lose the ones we're supposed to as well. We haven't pulled upsets but OTOH we generally don't get upset.

I'll take it in a second over where we were for 30 years before Niko and Bob, and I feel like we have better days ahead as our recruiting over the last couple of years seems to have improved and we have a to of talent in the Freshman and RFr classes as well as the incoming group.

I am certainly looking forward to seeing the above prediction by you come true.

I think a win at Alabama may have given this team the swag it needs. I hope they can learn from it and not dwell on it and treat it as just another game which is what it was. We saw what this team is capable of in the first half of the UA game. The good thing is hopefully we won’t see the biased officiating again this year. We’ll see some bad officiating but at least it won’t be blatantly biased. Beat Winthrop.
