No offers yet from Furman, but Monday was the first day schools could make certain kinds of official contact and the Paladin coaching has made some early contacts.

They got in touch with Nic Klaiber, 6'1" point guard, from Bloomington North HS in Bloomington, IN. He is a speedy guard with a good shooting touch and a good assist man too.
They also were one of a large group of schools to contact 6'8" Cade Pendleton of East Hamilton HS in Chattanooga. Pendleton fits the mold of a number of recent recruits. He is an athletic forward with a good perimeter shot and good all-around skills.

------

A couple more names that showed up ---
Braden Smith, 5'11" point guard from Westfield, IN, heard from many schools including Indiana, Purdue, Virginia and the Paladins. Do-it-all guard who hit over 40% from three point range.
Nate Brafford, 6'8" 170, was a junior this season but is transferring to Rabun Gap, a private school, from Tuscola HS in N.C. and is reclassifying to the class of 2022. He averaged about 34 ppg this year and hit 46% of his three point shots. Brafford heard from more than a dozen schools which included Virginia Tech, Davidson, Yale, Rice in addition to Furman.

A new offer listed on Verbal Commits

Ajay Sheldon 6'1" guard from Dublin Coffman HS in Ohio.

Sheldon's second D1 offer, the first was a few days ago from Elon. Highlights show him to be an athletic guard with a very quick first step and good shooting range. He gets a lot of layups and dunks after getting by his man and he looks like a good defender as well.

Justin Morgan 6'6" SG/SF from Memphis, TN

Great shooter. What recruiters call a "3 and D". That is shorthand for a guy who is an excellent shooter who can defend his position . Fits Morgan well. He has a quick, accurate perimeter shot and quick feet and has quick hands defensively. His highlights don't feature drives or a lot of assists, although that doesn't mean he can't do those things. Morgan is home schooled and played "HS" basketball this year on a team of all home schooled players. A very good one - they were national champs of home schooled teams. During this season they proved themselves by beating two high school teams that made the final four in their state championships.

Morgan has grabbed some good offers lately. His last two are from Memphis and TCU. He had earlier offers from mostly mid-majors. Furman offered on April 13th after he excelled in an AAU event in Atlanta.

No chance when he already has an offer from a final 4 team.

What Final Four team is that? This year's Four were Baylor, Gonzaga, UCLA, and Houston. Maybe you are confusing Memphis with Houston. Memphis hasn't even made the NCAA tourney since 2014. They did make the Final Four in 2008.

I would worry about Memphis more because it is Morgan's hometown team. They have a dozen offers out to players who play the same position so I don't know how high he stands on their wish list.

Looks like Morgan was just recently offered by Houston so that is what AP is referring too. I would not rule out the possibility of winning the recruiting battle with the P5+ programs.

Samford just landed a 4 star kid with 10+ high major offers. SAMFORD. In addition, landed Florida transfer Ques Glover who Furman offered out of high school. If Bucky can recruit, I am confident Bob Richey can lure some big name players.

Looks like Sammy is on the ball and could very well be the favorite come November.

Morgan has received almost all of his offers in the past week. He will probably end up with a couple of dozen unless he decides early.

Samford's signee Wesley Cardet got many of those high major offers before he was a high school sophomore. He may be a great steal for Samford, or he may be another guy who reached his peak early.

Jack Karasinski 6"7" 200 small forward from Central Catholic HS in Grand Rapids, MI has an offer from Furman today. He also added a Wofford offer today as well. Earlier offers from Western Michigan, Oakland, Toledo, and Miami of Ohio.

Karasinski averaged 19 ppg, 5 rebs., and 3 assists as he starred on Central Catholic's 20-0 state championship team.

Offer just announced for Devin Carney 6'1" guard from Sewickly, PA Butler Area HS.

All-around guard who can shoot with great range, drive strong to the hoop, and play tough defense. Carney averaged 30 ppg, this season and has 14 listed offers so far. Some noteworthy offers from Rice, Rhode Island, George Mason, Duquesne, and Toledo. He apparently picked up his Furman offer today while on an unofficial visit.

Hit 57% of his two point shots, 38% from three point range, and 85% of his FTs this season. Looks like he modeled his shooting form after Steph Curry - super quick release.

Tom House 6'6" 190 lb. SF from Centerville, Ohio picked up a Paladin offer Tuesday while on an unofficial visit to the campus. House averaged over 17 points per game this season for the Ohio Div. 1 state champions. As is the case with Furman's other offers for this class, House is known for his excellent shooting touch but is also smooth and effective driving to the hoop and is a very good passer and effective rebounder.

House now has 11 listed offers. The other schools are Ohio, Wright State, Miami (OH), Mercer, Fordham, Tulane, Winthrop, Holy Cross, Robert Morris, and Oral Roberts.

It was an impressive weekend for one of the top teams in the Buckeye State, as the defending Ohio Division I (big school) state champions came out and did more than hold their own against some of the best around. The Elks closed out their weekend in strong fashion, taking down perennial Philly powerhouse Imhotep Charter 56-43, getting strong performances from up and down the roster.

One of the main contributors to Centerville’s success is House, whose effort and energy on both ends helped the Elks hang with N.J. powerhouse Camden on Saturday night before the win over the Panthers on Sunday.

“That was what our coach wanted us to do, coming all the way out here — it’s an eight-hour drive, so we could play some good teams,” he said. “There’s a few teams in Ohio, probably two or three other than us, that are that level, but other than that it’s not as consistent.”

A 6-6, 190-pound wing guard, House is — like the rest of the Centerville roster — a smooth, confident 3-point shooter, with great understanding and feel for when to pull the trigger, when to shot-fake and attack and when to keep passing and moving within the flow of his team’s constantly-moving attack. But he also flashed the ability to finish through traffic even with looming shot-blockers, and he really used his energy and length to his advantage on the defensive end, getting low in his stance and making it tough for opposing guards and wings.

A few notes -

Devin Carney's recruitment was a short one. He committed today to Elon.

Cavan Reilly, a 6'4" guard from Bishop O'Connell HS in the Washington, DC area was on the Furman campus for an unofficial visit today. He has offers from a half dozen or so schools including his most recent offer from Fordham.
Will Kelly, 6'4" guard from Belmont, NC, visited a couple of weeks ago.
Furman has shown some interest in Saxby Sunderland, 6'4" guard at Flint Hill prep school in Virginia. Sunderland has at least 15 offers so far including several from A10 schools.
The Paladins also showing interest in 6'6" Brady Cummins from the Brooks School in Massachusetts. The Maine native has picked up recent attention from recruiters. His most recent offer is from South Alabama.
Wofford got a commitment from Joshua Morisette a 6'2" guard from Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. I think that is the first commitment for any SoCon school for the freshman class of 2021-22.

A local guy rising quickly up the recruiting charts is Justin Bailey 6'2" guard from Blue Ridge HS. He has recently picked up D1 offers from Charleston Southern and USC-Upstate and is getting attention from a bunch of other schools including Furman, Davidson, Wofford, Winthrop, Elon, Marshall, Murray State and more. Bailey is a strong all-around player who can score, defend, pass, and plays with great intensity. He averaged 25 ppg, 9 rebs., and over 4 assists last year.
