I wonder if this is a step down in pay/prestige?

interesting, he has a really solid HS pedigree....almost but not quite the "George Quarles" of Alabama HS basketball....will be curious to see how this plays out.

it has a bit of "win the press conference" feel to it, but I can understand why they'd go this route.

Wonder if Padgett’s son who was a freshman this season will stay or go?

His record shows a coach that knows how to win. He will be supported by many of the states coaches. If he can recruit or can hire someone that can he could be quite successful. I think the conference is stronger with him.
If things work out Mercer and Samford will both be improved. WC is better. Chat is better. Hoping that the new commish can help in scheduling and TV.

He was awful, no way he would have gotten to play DI hoops anywhere without his dad being a head coach

Wofford will be worse
And the cupboard is bare at Samford, not much he will have to work with for a few years

Interesting side note: Samford has already offered 2023 recruit Win Miller of nearby Vestavia Hills HS. 2023 makes him a freshman.
