Nice article. Thanks for posting. Untill they limit how many teams from a conference can get in it will never be fair. Of course that will never happen either.

Unfortunately, we knew how the movie would end before the season ever started.

Yannity mentioned in the pregame broadcast last Saturday that Furman is searching for the "elusive" NCAA bid. That's a fair assessment, I think. We've been on the doorstep a number of times, especially recently, but still need to close the deal.

Sometimes, you just gotta win the big games.

There's really no good solution. You have to pick up big wins to make the tournament as an at-large, and smaller schools have very few of those opportunities, and those are almost exclusively on the road. Meanwhile, bigger schools have a built in chance for quad 1 wins in 3/4 of their games. Of course a school like Duke has 5 quad 1 wins. They play several elite teams at home every year. If you are even a decent team, it's fairly easy to rack up a handful of quality wins. Furman would have had to beat Auburn or Alabama, Wofford and USF to even be on the bubble at like 28-3, which is insane. Those three losses were killer, with the former two being a chance at a major quad 1 road win, and the latter two being our two quad 3 losses.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
