It doesn't match the Evansville upset of Kentucky, but Virginia Tech just upset Michigan State 71-66. VT was picked last in the pre-season polls for the ACC. Michigan State was pre-season #1 in the nation. Apparently Mike Young knows something about coaching. The top player for VT is Landers Nolley, a redshirt freshman, who scored 22 and hit the game clincher late. The guy who passed him the ball was Hunter Cattoor, who was a player Furman recruited very hard last year. Cattoor played 30 minutes and scored 10 points for VT. At least Cattoor isn't playing for Wofford, which is where he originally signed before following Young to VT.

Loyola lost to South Florida, who we play in a few days by a score of 66-55. I don't see all the details but it seems the game was close until late in the second half when USF pulled away because of a scoring drought. Sounds like the way Furman's lead jumped from 12 to 24 late against Loyola. Loyola had another bad three point shooting day.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
