The website Stadium.com has been ranking jobs in every D1 conference in alphabetical order. It is finally the SoCon's turn.

The criteria were Tradition, Game Atmosphere, Budget Resources, Buy Games,Geographical Recruiting Base, Facilities, Selling Pros, Admission Requirements.

Furman was ranked #7 in the league. Here is the entry for the Paladins

"7. FURMAN (36) – The Paladins went to the Sweet 16 in 1974, and have gone dancing six times overall — but not since 1980. It’s been a dry spell, with Jene Davis, Butch Estes, Joey Cantafio, Larry Davis, Jeff Jackson and Niko Medved all coming up short. It ranks towards the middle of the league in most categories, but the facilities are towards the bottom and the stingy admission standards make it difficult.

Where they win: “Campus is nice, and the city of Greenville is awesome. Big-time academics can be a selling point.” – SoCon head coach

Where they lose: “The facility sucks. Has a stage in it and diagonal seating. They have to drop curtains down before the games to square it off.” – SoCon assistant"

See if you can guess where some of the other schools ranked, or just go to the LINK

Kind of surprising to rank the VMI facility no. 10

"Where they lose" is totally wrong. No diagonal seating is used. The stage is not seen, do not drop curtains to square it off. That's what you get when you ask a competitor, it's taken as truth and posted and printed and becomes true.

I don’t think they are wrong in terms of the facility being the biggest issue with recruiting and it continues to get worse by the day as other facilities improve in the league. Clearly we have bigger issues than scheduling and it’s time we address them! Got to spend money to make money. Can’t sit on a pipe dream of getting to the NCAA if we really have the 7th best situation in the league above Western and the 2 militaries. Wonder how CBR feels about this article?

The arena issue is easy to fix. All it takes is a few people with big bucks. Anyone out there ready to contribute $10,000,000 to make it happen?

I enjoy beating dead horses, so let's argue about how Timmons needs to be fixed.... again.

Ironic that being the top academic school in the conference gets you a bottom of the barrel rating in that area.
