Verbal Commits lists a new offer from Furman to-

Jacques "Ques" Glover 5'11" guard from Bearden HS in Knoxville, TN

He has listed offers from 11 other schools including Loyola (IL), College of Charleston, New Mexico State, Northern Kentucky, Samford, and Yale.

Very quick with a three level game - three point shooter, mid-range jumpshot, and slashing drives to the hoop. Is called a tough, in-your-face defender. Put up strong scoring numbers for his AAU team this summer. AAU teammate of Wofford commit Zac Ervin. His high school team is a good one that includes Tennessee commit Drew Pember.

Max Fiedler has committed to Rice University. His final four also included Furman, Army, and William and Mary.

David Skogman has an additional offer, from Southern Illinois. That is his 15th offer.

Zane Meeks has picked up recruiting interest from Belmont and Dartmouth.

Ques Glover has a new offer - Vermont.

Recruiting entering crunch time. For fall signings, at least.

So we need 4 guys and we have no commits yet?

What happened to the versatile big guy theme to our recruiting? The last two offers have been to guards (which I guess we need now), and there doesn't sound like there's a lot of interest from our remaining big guy recruits.

From Phenom Hoop Report

6’4” Jayvis Harvey
Southern Durham (Durham, NC)
NC 2019 Ranking: 26th
Current Offers: St Bonaventure, Hofstra, UNC-A, James Madison, Citadel, NC Central
In our opinion, Harvey is the best pure shooter in the state. His release is quick and high, his touch is soft and he is shot ready on every catch. Coached in high school by David Noel (former UNC standout and NBA draft selection), he is getting better by the passing day. Harvey was the first wing off the bench for Team Felton this July, on the UA Circuit and he showcased that scoring ability at the highest level. It is easy to fall in love with his game, as every shot seems to ripple the nets. As more college coaches come in to see him and more and more shooting guards fall off the board, eyes will open for this pure shooter with good size.

Great news with the commitment of Jonathan Lawrence. A couple of our other prospects have made decisions today. Pierce Hellums will stay home and attend Sam Houston State. Jayvis Harvey committed to Radford on his official visit.

Very. Now let’s get a wing, Ques Glover, and a SoCon title.

Some unfortunate misses so far during recruiting season. Seems like a combination of factors, none particularly concerning, but still not exactly ideal.

Trey Hutcheson has committed to Albany after an official visit. He had been planning to wait until Spring but decided to go ahead and make his decision now.

David Skogman continues to accumulate offers. Latest from UC-Davis and Texas Tech.

I am interested in seeing which direction recruiting is leaning. Sure the coaches want a guard. Do they want a second guard? A wing? Another post? In the past few weeks they have been scouting some players in the 6'7" to 6'11" range. Do they want to sign four in November or hold one or two spots until Spring?

When you are looking for hidden gems with 0,1, or 2 other offers you don't miss so often. When you are after players with 15-20 or more offers the success rate is lower.

Per his Twitter, G Colin Kenney of Marquette Catholic HS in Michigan City, Indiana will be visiting Furman this weekend.

From PrepHoops.com under “stock rising”

“Colin Kenney – 6’1 / PG / 2019 / Marquette Catholic (IN) / SYF 2019
Colin has done nothing but play well this Spring. He’s shooting the ball at a high level and looks as polished as he ever has. Will need a little more visibility because he has the game to be able to be a high-end scoring guard in college.”

Well they have missed on guys that mostly did not have that many offers, and to schools like Wofford, Radford, Albany, and Sam Houston State.

The risk in that situation is that the next set of targets commit elsewhere while Furman is chasing guys that aren't likely to sign on.

What would you consider an acceptable success rate?

The only recruit I'm upset about losing is Cattoor and that's only bc he went to Wofford. We have several contributing players who were signed in the spring. (Mounce, Gurley, Brown, probably someone else)

How do you know we lost those guys? Maybe we let them go to Albany, to Radford and to Sam Houston. You know that "offers" as defined on twitter and in the media aren't really offers. Lots of guys that we offer, if they called to commit we wouldn't take their commitment if we had other guys we liked better.

Rafferty was a spring signing too.

Just to double down on what was already said, Cattoor is the only kid I know we were disappointed to lose. And maybe slightly disappointed when we lost Fiedler to Rice but they love love love Jonathan Lawrence.
