This NIT allows for more program growth indeed, remember we did CIT 2 years in a row, won 19 games in 2016 (with 1 win coming in CIT) then followed that with 23 wins in 2017 (2 coming in CIT, making it to CIT semifinals)

In 2018 we won 23 games but made a progressive decision that for the program it was NCAA's, NIT or bust, which is the right place for Furman to be in now.

Now fast forward and we get 25 wins in 2019 and make first NIT appearance since 1991, hoping our 25 wins in 2020 is enough to get us a second straight NIT appearance and possibly pull out some wins, P5 gives quality opponents in the field for us to go up against, and Madison Square Garden is still a fun opportunity for the final 4 teams.
Considering we only have 1 senior and will be not only loaded but probably the SoCon preseason favorite, all of this is gradual progress towards getting where we want to be, the sky is clearly not falling and everything is still looking very bright moving forward!

I agree with all of this. A win or two (or more) in the NIT would be huge for the program and put a nice bow on a fun season. A final four run to MSG would be huge, offering potentially more exposure than a round of 64 NCAA exit.

Perhaps in terms of TV ratings; however, nothing the NIT can offer compares with an appearance on all those March Madness grids.

I agree. The NIT would be great for this overachieving team, but for national exposure, even a one and done in the Big Dance is better than being in the NIT Final Four.

#1’s NDSU and Hofstra both reach their respective championship games tomorrow night.
#1 Wright State 25-6 fell badly to a barely .500 UIC

So far 3 spots have been taken in the NIT due to #1 teams losing in their tourneys.

Ivy league cancels conference tournament. Regular season champion gets automatic bid.

One less spoiler to worry about!

At this point, what are the chances the NIT just gets cancelled? I think it's possible and definitely possible that no fans besides parents will be allowed in any arena hosting games. Wild stuff going on right now.

With 27 deaths in the US that would be a major over reaction

How many people have died from the Flu this year? A ton more than 27 that's for sure. Why don't we just cancel everything forever because of that lol

I don't completely disagree, but I'm just going off of the Ivy League cancelling, all major sports talking about playing without fans, and the Governor of Ohio asking for no gatherings of fans in arenas, which includes the First Four and opening round. Would be a billion-dollar loss to scrap the NCAA Tourney, so doubt that happens, but could easily see other less important tourneys being cancelled. I hope it doesn't for the record.

I don't believe that number.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
