Damn it. W won on last second shot.
I’m beginning to feel ill. Not only did WC knock us out of the tourney they now have a chance to put a dagger in by influencing our NIT chances.
How does what Wofford does/did affect our NIT chances?
If they beat etsu, etsu falls to the NIT thus takes a spot and the the SoCon is represented without FU.
Don’t we think ETSU is a strong at-large contender even with a Wofford loss?

Yes I think most think ETSU will get in NCAA even if they lose tomorrow.

I think Wofford will give ETSU a run for the championship. Wofford is tournament tested over the last several years and they know how to win in the tournament. That is not true of everyone else in conference other than maybe ETSU and UNCG?

Yes they are. They are currently 40th in the NET but a loss would put them in the high 40's. That won't get them in. They would be competing with mediocre power conference teams and we know that outcome. WC had a very good chance to lose tonight but scored the last 6 points. A team coming off a game they very easily could have lost, usually plays great the next game in tourney format. I have a very bad feeling about Monday night's game.

It’ll somehow be Western and Wofford and it’s going to be awful.
If they win then they DESERVE to be there. Nothing awful about it. Winners get rewarded - wish we would win in the damn tourney
Please don’t pop in after not following this remarkable team all year and offer commentary. Football season is in 6 months.
Fufanatic. I hear you.

1). But I have followed them. I watched on TV etc. checked every score. To assume I haven’t followed is just rude. I was texting friends about our games all year

2) I am RIGHT. Winners deserve everything they get

Get over the sour grapes man. We had a great year. You are right on that. . . We also have an inability to finish. Seems a distinct trend in tourney.

Also, you say I am popping in. PaulC and I had a fun heckle About a week ago on this very forum where my pick was we don’t want Wofford. So I didn’t just pop up now. I actually posted about THIS VERY GAME days ago. So I earned the right to speak to THIS GAME in particular

I really hope we make NIT. if we play at Clemson or USC I’ll probably go

I admire Wofford for their effort. They looked good early. In the second half I literally think they ran out of gas. Like 5-23 on 3’s or worse. Many shots just short. I think ETSU was the best team in the conference this year.

Tonight Wofford looked like the same half ass 16 loss team they have been during the majority of this season

6-25 from 3

In the three games prior they were 36/73 (49.3%) after shooting 31% all year.

FYI, this is the second straight year the Championship game has been a sellout, 6,400

Hopefully Greenville is ready to host the Tournament in 2022, think the right teams in semifinal and title game could pull 10k

Congrats to ETSU. Hope they do well in the NCAA. Their win increases FU’s NIT chances a little.
I would think they can get around a 10 seed which should give them a winnable game

Also at 30-4 with 5 seniors heading out, Steve Forbes could be moving up to a bigger school as well

The kid who hit 4 threes in a row at a critical time against Furman and had 14 points in the 2nd half went o for the game tonight vs ETSU. That says it all. Other than that , Wofford is a very good team and will be again next year - unfortunately.

With our help, perhaps 18 next year.
That would be better.

ETSU was the best, most consistent team in the conference and deserved to win. They really mowed through the competition in Asheville. Impressive performance by the Bucs. I hope they can pull an upset in the tourney.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
