Not to minimize this beat down, but I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Charleston Southern is not #238 in the country. What's interesting is that they returned 60% of their minutes, which is actually a pretty high ratio (60th per KenPom), after finishing last year as #160. Their star Keeling grad transferred, and they seem not to be dealing with it terribly well.
CSU's top scorer, 6'2" sophomore Dontrell Shuler, missed tonight's game with a nagging injury. He was averaging 18 ppg in the first two games. They were a bad three shooting team with him. Not a guy they could afford to be without, although they were shooting 18% from three with him. They again shot 18% tonight.
Wofford loses at home to William & Mary

We all knew Wofford would take a major step back this year, they have a very unathletic team without much length honestly, unless they get hot from 3 they will struggle
Wofford had an extreme match up problem tonight. W&M has 6'10'" 253 lb senior Nathan Knight and 7'0" 230 lb Wisconsin transfer andy Van Vliet starting for them. A bunch of wings and guards transferred out after the Tribe fired their long time coach but kept the big guys. Wofford is thin and unproven on their front line. Their 7'1" juco transfer is hurt and won't be back for several weeks. Wofford lost tonight on a last second bucket after coming from behind to take the lead late. They do have some athletic freshmen on the team - very young on the frontline.

Yeah, I heard the CSU commentators note that during the 2nd half. Amusingly, they pondered whether his presence would have changed the outcome of the game, and seemed open to the possibility.

Loyola-Chicago lost at home tonight to #346 Coppin State.

Yeah I know I watched their second half, they will live and die by how well they shoot the ball because they don't have much else

In some other action tonight-

The Citadel gave Georgia a real battle. The final margin was 95-86, but the game was close the whole way. Georgia only lead by two points with three minutes left. The Citadel shot the ball well and out rebounded Georgia by 7, but committed 22 turnovers to only 8.
Chattanooga beat Troy State 74-68 and Western Carolina routed North Carolina A&T.

I feel like WCU has a pretty solid starting 5 this year, they will be a team to keep an eye on

Hunter with another zero turnover night.

I’m not sure how good Loyola or CSU will end up being, but three D1 wins, including two true road wins, to open the season isn’t half bad. Especially considering Furman wasn’t particularly challenged a ton in the last two.

That was a beat down! Just got back from this quick road trip. Sat behind Robert Swanson’s parents, so it was good to see him make it off the bench.

Bothwell is really playing well. Good to see frosh Collin Kenney get some good minutes.

Former FU player Nick Sanders was in the house.

Radebaugh has his hands full with this bunch. Gardner Webb seemed so much better coached, but what do I know.

Only one smaller is GB Hodge Center at USC Upstate.
Saw you in the crowd. The Hodge Center at Upstate looks bigger to me. Wonder why CSU's facilities are so bad?
They announced 7 years ago a plan to build new 3500 seat facility. Never happened. Last two years have not helped.

Say what you want about the old Baptist College, but they have been to the NCAA tournament more recently (1997) than we have, along with two NIT appearances in the last decade.

They appear to be on the downward slide currently.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
