I think you guys took that a little out of context. I think he was complementing the new hires and also probably preparing us for him bumping up Daniel Fowler if that’s what he ends up doing. I personally thought he handled the Perry situation well considering he went to the rival...I thought he was pointing out the positives much more than he was focusing on the negatives.

Latest podcast. http://blogs.furman.edu/mensbball/
A few items that stood out for me -

The new assistant coach has been chosen and will start Monday. From Richey's comments I thought I knew who he meant but then one comment left me wondering.

They missed on a recruit they thought they had a good chance of getting but he wanted more immediate playing time. Another potential recruit will visit next week. They will probably not sign two this spring but it could be they just hold two spots for next season. They will be selective.

How tall is Ben Beeker, the incoming freshman? Listed at 6'9", but Richey called him 6'10" or 6'11."

Likely the missed recruit in question was Zac Ervin, just based on public information. Richey's comments were in line with what I expected, that the lack of playing time was an issue with guard/wing recruits, while basically it's just hard to find good post players that check all the boxes.

The class of 2020 has more upside potential by virtue of increased playing time opportunities and also taking place after a 25-win season, rather than mostly beforehand like 2019. Strategically it makes a lot of sense to have 3 scholarships for that class.

I thought the comments about the asst were in line with Tim Johnson, who was mentioned on here as a candidate.

Every single podcast I become more and more convinced that we will be the best team in the league next year. And I become more and more convinced that BR will compete for national titles as a coach one day if he decides to leave the Paladins for a bigger school at some point in the future.

JMU didn't make the NCAAs this year did they? I thought BR said that the new assistant was part of a team that had. Or maybe he meant Wofford, which made tourney when he played and also this past year.

That was the confusing statement to me.

Tim Johnson is no longer listed on Wofford's basketball website as a current Assistant Coach.

To me, it sounded like this coach played a big role in helping their team reach the NCAA tourney and CBR hesitated when he said it. Tim Johnson recruited Keve Aluma, Nathan Hoover and Cam Jackson.. He develops post players. Someone on the terrier board mentioned seeing TJ and CBR eating dinner together. Would be extremely surprised if not him.

If it is him, really strong resume.

- As a player was part of first two SoCon titles at Wofford. All-SoCon both years. Had more than 1,000 career rebounds. Wofford Hall of Fame.

- Grad assistant for two years at Wyoming.

- Four years back at Wofford.

- Two years at JMU. Looks like he coached guards at JMU, but obviously has a background in post play.

They also had excellent post play from Rapolas Ivanauskas

Despite my earlier post, there are some strong social media indications that the new coach is Tim Johnson.
