Trey Fort will apparently use that extra year of eligibility somewhere other than Samford. He is transferring. He will moving to his 4th stop. He averaged 5 ppg at Mississippi State, and over 14 ppg this season at Samford. He started at Tenn-Martin and also spent a year at a juco.

We should be contenders next year. Obviously all the teams will bring in transfers who will either be very good or not, but going off what we know for FU

Replace scoring (most likely a D2 guy)
Eddrin and Tom House become consistent 10+ ppg
Coop be Coop
I like Mason Smith's potential a lot: tall, lengthy wing who can shoot
Anything we get from one or two freshmen will be a nice bonus that could put us over the top

So with Humphries leaving, that leaves one scholarship available for a transfer?
Yet I notice we've been looking at a transfer guard and potential transfer stretch forward. Any idea if we have another potential scholarship available?

By my count there are 31 SoCon players in the portal, roughly 1/4th of the entire league…
Too low.

Obviously, there are structural issues with the current system that are oppressing 3/4 of college basketball players.

Changes must be made!

A couple of things to note.

Few teams regularly play more than 10 players on a regular basis. Many have a rotation of no more than 8 or 9. The guys not playing are always possible transfers. Now there is a much greater chance that those guys will leave. Even younger players get the desire to move out much quicker than before. Waiting your turn is less appealing. And the chance of a payday leads to even more regulars leaving than in the past. Difficult for mid-majors to hold onto their stars Also note that the numbers on the Verbal Commits site also includes walk-ons that decide to leave. That is a significant number too. I don't think the transfer number should include non scholarship players but it does. I began noticing that a couple of years ago.

As of right now (12:38 PM) Wofford has 3 returning players and 4 incoming freshmen. Five of the seven are guards and the two guys listed at forward average about 190 lbs. each. The Terriers will be looking diligently for big men in the transfer lists..

Major drop off the earth type stuff for Woffy and UNCG.............

With most of the covid guys now gone from the system its going to be harder to rebuild a roster from just the portal..........
Especially for Woffy with no grad school and no possibility for grad transfers.
Don Douglass and Justin Bailey now in the portal for Woffy. Down to three returning players with 76 combined minutes of playing time all season - 2 guards and 1 forward.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
