Everywhere I’ve seen says Samford is the 3 regardless of tomorrow’s game. Check your sources apaladin.
Correct Samford was 2-0 against 7th seeded Mercer and uncg would be 2-0 against etsu if they win tomorrow. Both are 1-1 against everyone else. Fixed the above list.
Mercer & Samford split. Mercer beat Samford in Macon.

Samford 80
Mercer 83

Team 1 2 F
SU 38 42 80
Mercer 33 50 83
DATE: 01/05/22
SITE: University Center, Macon, GA

Mercer coming off 3 losses including one to Western. Alverez hasn’t played recently.

Western finished with a win against VMI and usually have a supportive crowd in Asheville.

I think we may face Western Saturday.

In case anyone is thinking of investing in Furman, they have been installed as the favorite over Chattanooga.......and anyone else. Right now, we are + 150. That is pretty rich for a team that kind of staggered home before the final wipeout of Citadel.

I think I heard Alverez is done for the year.
He must be. He didn’t play against FU a month ago.

Injured foot (broken FUBeAR heard) on 12/6 at Coastal Carolina
Did not play again until Mercer’s back-to-back games vs. Chatt. Did not start either, but played 20 minutes on 2/5 & 16 minutes on 2/7, but not after departing with 7:50 remaining in the 2nd half…including not playing in OT.

Would assume a re-injury and FUBeAR has heard he is not expected to play again this season.

Broken feets can be tricky to heal. FUBeAR knows this well…having spent almost his entire FR year at FU on crutches and in/out of casts until surgery resolved the issue. FUBeAR Jr. also broke his hind paw during his days as a Mercer Bear, but quick surgery and rapid healing got him back on the field after 6 weeks. Doesn’t seem Mr. Alvarez has been so fortunate. Sad…he’s a fun Player to watch and the Bears Hoops squad certainly has missed him.

Pomeroy rates the Paladins as #73 and Chattanooga as #76. The website TeamRankings gives Furman almost a 41% chance of winning the tournament and Chattanooga about a 29% chance. Other rating systems, like Sagarin and Massey have Chattanooga rated higher. Some systems, like Pomeroy's, value margin of victory more than others. Furman had 12 D1 wins by double digits and only 2 losses - Navy and UNC by more than 10. We also had 4 wins by 30+ and another by 25.

As a comparison, 7 of Samford's 10 losses were by double digit margins. 10 of their wins were by 6 or less.
