For the few Furman fans who recemtly attended the game at ETSU, we were fortunate to have seats behind the Dins bench. Thus, very close to the court. The 2 out of 3 teenage refs were awful. You could read the refs expression after they made a horrible call. The refs knew they blew it and so did the Furman few.

It is not just the SoCon. Jay Bilas penned an OpEd today severely criticizing the officiating in college basketball. He said they are letting players get away with overly physical play and that foul calls are at an all time low.

This does not benefit a free flowing good shooting team like Furman. We are getting mugged and they are not being called and that is affecting our shooting.
I’m surprised it took this long to get like that. In lower levels like youth AAU. You pretty much have to launch 3’s or get breakaway layups because if you do anything else you have to do it with somebody holding your arm. There is no rhyme or reason as to what’s a foul and what isn’t. Mostly if somebody has a reputation or just looks like a player, he might go to the line. Everybody else is screwed. If you’re the wrong kind of kid, just forget about it.
