Should go after this guy from the Netherlands...
https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Trist ... Interests/
Why? Per the site, he's had offers from 6 major programs.
He has not committed. Seems like the type of student that would fit well at Furman and already has a great game. If we can't compete in grabbing a guy from majors and other mid-majors, then we will not excel long-term.

Because I love this stuff here's a couple of names one of the coaches is following; Chase Paar, 6-9 230 PF, and Michael Moreno, 6-6 190 F) both 3*, Parr from Maryland, and Moreno from Kentucky. Paar is showing being committed to GWU and Verbal Commits is showing he signed an LOI, 247 shows committed. Moreno is uncommitted but a strong lean to EKU per 247. These are relatively new follows.

One note on this - NCAA rules allow commits to withdraw their LOIs if there is a coaching change, such as the one at GW.

Paar is from Maryland. He had about 17 listed offers before picking George Washington. An interesting set of offers. Mostly mid-majors with Nebraska, Xavier, and Kansas State also listed.

Moreno was a star for the Scott County team that beat Andrew Taylor's Corbin squad in last year's Kentucky quarter-finals. Moreno was named 1st team all-state for the third straight year. Scott County lost in the state championship game for the second year in a row. Moreno has about about a dozen listed offers on Verbal Commits. He had to come back this year after a leg injury midway through the season. He was out about five weeks.

Traveling man Preston Parks, the 6'1" guard from Greenville Wade Hampton HS, is on the move again. He was SoCon freshman of the year at the Citadel before transferring to UT-Martin. He averaged 11 ppg there this year but will transfer again.

New names from twitter.

Ben Wight, 6-8 210 PF, from Worthington OH formerly committed to Ohio has re-opened his recruitment and will get a visit from Furman this week according to NEO_Spotlight.

Yannick Olma, 6-9 225 PF, and Jovan Zelenbaba, 6-5 G/F have received interest from Furman, this according to Combine Men's Basketball.

And just to add grist to the mill, Nigel John, 6-10 250 C, from Weatherford TX, formerly (maybe still) committed to Washington St is a recent follow of one of our coaches.

Wight is definitely in the mold of recent Furman recruits like Mounce, Gurley, and Lawrence. He is lanky, athletic, and lightly recruited. He was listed at 6'9" 200 on most recruiting sites. Ohio was his only listed offer on Verbal Commits. He averaged about 14 ppg and 9 rebounds this year despite some injuries along the way, including a foot injury and a broken collarbone. His highlight package was impressive. Wight has some quick low post moves and good bounce - a high percentage of flashy dunks among his baskets. Didn't see many outside shots or drives. Has some shot blocking ability. Both of Wight's parents are Ohio U. grads. The new coach said he would honor the signing but may have encouraged Wight to look elsewhere. Furman and Winthrop were scheduled for in-home visits today.

Olma and John are both low post power center types. Strong post moves and physical around the basket. John in particular is a raw talent who only started focusing on basketball the past two years. He was home-schooled and only played one year with a high school type program. Washington State's main (only?) competition was Tulsa. He was given a release from Washington State.

The highlights for Zelenbaba were strong. Nice outside shooting touch and solid athleticism. Creighton, George Washington, High Point and Northwestern State (Louisiana) are some schools showing interest. He has made an official visit to NW State.

Jacques Glover, 5'11" point guard from Knoxville, has committed to Florida.

He had 18 listed offers but this was his first and only one from a P5 conference team.

That's great!

Still leaves two scholarships, should be interesting to see what Bob Richey finds out on the recruiting trail

Local (NC) article says that he will be on a full academic scholarship, which is interesting, given the NCAA rules around academic scholarships and team scholarship limits. For him not to count against the team's scholarship maximum, he would have to have applied like anyone else and been granted the full scholarship apart from any consideration of his basketball ability (beyond the credit any applicant would get for participating in a HS sport).

Assuming that is the case, it would be a nice pick-up for the program, basically creating an extra roster spot if he develops into a contributor.
