Played in 15/35 games
Played in 1 game in Jan and 1 game in Feb.
Averaged 1.2 points per game for the season.
Shot 21% Field goal % for the year .

Was it the best decision for him to leave Furman and go to Auburn ?
I don’t know. I hope for him he feels like the extra $$ was worth it .

Yes it was worth. He has a couple of thousand in the bank to start out with plus he had a great seat for some high level basketball. Made the final four. Probably didn’t have to go to class. Even though he is out of eligibility don’t be surprised if he shows up somewhere. Pjay is out of eligibility but has already applied for another year.

Competitive Athletes don’t think this way.

Maybe the mercenary pretend student athletes of today do.

FUBeAR had a business partner one time, talking about Football, tell FUBeAR he would rather wear the jersey and never play a down at Florida State than be a starter at Furman.

FUBeAR thought, “tell me you’re not a competitive athlete without telling me you’re not a competitive athlete.”

From my Auburn basketball friends, I understand that their fan base was excited about Pegues when he got to Auburn. From what they tell me, he wasn't as fast as he needed to be to really play a bunch in the SEC. Opponents would just run by him.

apparently his brother was enrolled at AU. So whereas he didnt play much, he made alot of $$ and hopefully has a family memory that will last a long time. Plus a journey to the final 4 ain bad either

wish he had 1 more year and xferred back to FU. Thats the PG the Dins need

Pegues was not a highly recruited guy in high school- he had four listed offers in HS - Furman, Wofford, Belmont, and Chattanooga. No offers from P4 type teams. Sometimes the right coach can bring out performances that other coaches can't. I think I mentioned it before, when we beat Belmont last season, Belmont guard Jakobi Gillespie had a very good matchup with Pegues. Both players had good games. Gillespie transferred to Maryland and was very good with them this season. Pegues disappeared after his transfer.

In an unrelated obseration, did anyone else notice the play of Will Richard and Denzel Aberdeen for Florida? Both of those players were offered by Furman as high school players. Richard started, played 36 minutes, and scored 7 points and had 6 rebounds and 3 steals against Auburn. Aberdeen came off the bench and scored 3 points in 15 minutes. Richard was the first HS player we offered from his high school class year.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
