We finished 3rd of all SoCon schools in home attendance average this year, only behind UTC and ETSU
Of course we will drop signicantly when Timmons opens. No more 3 and 4,000 crowds, unless we play one at BSWA which is doubtful.
I bet they still use the Well for a few weekend games a year - particularly the Wofford game. That game has grown into a big rivalry game that is often the most well attended game of the year.

Let's hope no games are played at the Well. Play all games on our home court, at Timmons Arena. We are spending way too much money for a new arena to play home games anywhere else.

Also, Duke doesn't play any games at the 21,000 seat Lenova Arena in Raleigh because the smaller Cameron Indoor Stadium has a better home court advantage even though it's smaller.

Also because that stadium is NC States home stadium and not Duke's

As Emily Litella would say, "Never mind".

found these pictures. looking awesome. cant tell if the seats will retract. looks like it

Only 10 rows of seats, probably less on the sides, that picture is opposite of the student section on the other end which will have bench seating. So if JD is correct with his figure there will be less than 2,000 actual seats which will be by far the smallest in the SoCon. It will be enough for the time being maybe but FU will never be able to grow or accomodate any new fans and/or be Greenville’s team in the event we do become an east coast Gonzaga or something remotely similar because no new fans will be able to get a ticket. I know it is going to be nice but IMHO they should have had less fluff and more seats. Just sayin’

I don’t disagree but as I mentioned when this whole process began, there were severe intrinsic limitations to renovating the existing structure as opposed to starting from scratch. I specifically mentioned the low height of the ceiling relative to the footprint. Some floated the idea of digging deeper but not sure if that was viable option. In sum, I think if they wanted luxury boxes, surround seating, etc. the die was cast before they began.

The luxury boxes, including the court side seats, will bring in much more money than individual ticket sales. Based on the footprint of the arena, the design and layout plan was a no-brainer decision. A sellout of 2,750 with seats, boxes and standing room is more financially beneficial to the program than a sellout of 3,250 with just seats. Even UNC is looking at replacing the 21,750 Dean Smith arena with a new one seating 16,000. They know luxury boxes are worth more than individual seats.https://247sports.com/college/north-car ... 245619985/

From the article. "The Carolina North plan calls for roughly 20% of the 16,000-seat capacity to be premium seating, with luxury suites split into tiers, as well as various club seating areas, according to sources. In addition to 3,000 student seats, that would allow for roughly 10,000 general seats, split between the lower and upper bowls. The projected timeline from the beginning of pre-design to the completion of construction is just shy of six years, sources confirmed. There are approximately 5,500 private seat licenses that remain from the Smith Center’s original fundraising campaign in the 1980s, according to sources. A new arena offers the opportunity for a reset for a majority of those licenses and opens the door for increased revenue streams with an updated licensing structure in the years ahead."

SD noticed the 10 rows also. The renderings had 11. Also looks like there is a door in the middle of the end zone seating which was not in the renderings

In any case, whether its 2500 or 2750, it is what it is. If its a big game, fans will pay for SRO. (For reference, St Marys has a crappy arena with 3000 seats and they do pretty well)
It will be very nice arena that CBR can recruit to. It will be loud as the fans will be on top of the action and the ceiling is not that high. IMHO students will like it

The home court advantage will be amazing. Looking forward to it

Blame it on apaladin’s negative comments.

The 8-10 rows of seats will not translate well for tv plus the tv cameras will be on the larger suite side pointing to the smaller non-suite side but it is what it is. SD that door in the middle of the end seats leads to a private room/suite for courtside seat holders for their pre-game, haltime use. It will have a bar, restrooms etc. No telling what those courtside seats are gonna cost?

Both sides will have suites. All the seats are in the lower bowls. It is going to look great and sound loud on tv. The entrance for the private room for the courtside seats is on the side. That end door is for the area reserved for students. There are also going to be a separate entrance/exit for each team. As for the courtside seats with the private room, I’ve heard $5,000, but that is not confirmed. Timmons is going to be awesome. Accept it and support it.

A friend of mine works for Harper, he gave me a tour last week. Comparing the old vs new, there is no comparison! All of the seats were in and it looks awesome. No matter where I was, I did not feel like I was in Timmons. We are getting a first class facility that finally looks like a basketball arena. There is something for everyone in the renovation. I have a feeling that it will loud with the proximity of the seating to the court. Those that want to critique and criticize should have ponied up the 40 million plus.
