IMHO best of luck to him. He gave his all to the Dins. Hope he gets his extra year and makes tons of money. Dont think staying at Dins will get him the amt he may be looking for. Although having him one more year would be awesone

In any case, he should check in with Pegues to get his experience

Anything goes these days. Nothing is surprising. Some of us may not live to see it but the day is coming when players will be hired to play and their will be no eligibility limits. Of course going to class will not be required which we know is already happening at big boy schools. For example when is the last time you heard the phrase “academically ineligible”.

How does PJay qualify for an extra year? Assuming he is transferring as a grad student?

Hard to begrudge him this, if he has the year. If guys give you four years and get their degree and want to take a shot at something for the grad year, that's totally fine.

Its the one's where you start winning, and they bail on the last couple years to ride the bench and get a paycheck that hurt :)

Roundball's question is a valid one...

21-22 - Lee University - 28 Games Played
22-23 - Lee University - 28 Games Played
23-24 - Furman - 33 Games Played
24-25 - Furman - 33 Games Played

What's the basis for the appeal? Where is the loophole?

The only thing I can think of is that there are some rumblings that, because of the Diego Pavia ruling, they may change that rule to say you get 5 to play 5 - you get 5 years of eligibility, at any institution, as long as you are attending an institution.. It does not matter whether you play every game, redshirt, are injured, COIVD year, asteroid stike, etc. etc., that you get 5 to play 5.

If they do change the rule that way, a lot of folks will stay. However, I doubt they do it this year if they do because the chaos with roster limits is wreaking enough havoc on both walk ons getting cuts and the 2025 recruiting class losing spots overall.

I miss the days in which a player graduated and left a program after 4 years. As it stands, players have no incentive to be patient and await their turn to shine.

Do you guys think a player who starts his career at Furman is MORE or LESS likely to finish (meaning at least 4 years undergrad degree)at Furman than a player (Like PJay) who transfers in? Or are they just more likely to be poached by a bigger team sooner? No agenda, just looking for thought-out opinions.

It’s frustrating but I get it for a player like Humphries who in all likelihood doesn’t crack the rotation yet again. It will really hurt when a player like Bowser is eventually offered a crazy figure we can’t touch but maybe he’ll stick around to play with his brother. Better yet hopefully Richey can now point to situations like Pegues in trying to retain our guys.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
