How many SoCON tourney championships have we notched during this nice 10 year run?

Since that seems to be the only way the SoCON gets an invite to the “Dance”, that should be our key success metric.

I agree it’s been a successful run and about to have a sweet modern arena. There are some really good programs and coaches in the SoCon now so dominating like Davidson once did isn’t realistic.

-Trip to the big dance plus a win over UVa in 2023.
-A lucky prayer last second shot by UTC in 2022 or else we’re in.
-One more regular season win in 2019 and I think we deserved an at-large bid. NIT was a good accomplishment.
-2nd round NBA draft pick

Hmmm.... I don't know. Does that not also say: if we were to have continued 20-win seasons but just didn't win the final tourney game, we should consider some change in leadership to accomplish said metric? I wouldn't be on board with that. Would you?

Not with CBR, but we need a change in direction with the Univerity on how we are going to navigate the current NCAA landscape and NIL dilemma If not we will continued to be poached to death.

The new arena will definitely help, as we have endured as traveling nomads this year.

During the next ten years I expect Furman to win the Southern Confernce Tournament at least twice. We will also finish in the top 4 in the regular season 4 times. We will finish 5-6 , 4 times and we will finish below 6, twice. At least 2 people on this board will complain ever year.

Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed the resurgence of Furman Basketball.....

I go back to when from 1971 to 1980 Furman won 6 out of 10 SoCON Championships.....went to the dance 6 times.....only won 20 games 6 times during this run as the (SoCON) was a slightly better conference back then.....We played in something called the North v South Doubleheader every year (UNC and NCSU), in addition we played Clemson, and USC every year. Our schedule was more difficult.

Winning 20 games, though commendable, is not overly noteworthy if we can win the conference.....With that said I am sure that no team in the Conference is looking forward to playing us in Asheville. And we could / should make a very deep run and possibly shock the world.....again

Does Furman University have any influence on how to navigate NIL? Most teams in America are facing headwinds with the college sports landscape. The NCAA has its hands tied on a solution as every time it tries something, they get sued and lose. I don’t know if there is an answer, except it will be up to the fans and supporters to open their checkbooks. The question is, where do those supporters draw the line?

Agreed. But until FU establishes and advertises our go forward direction and NiL policy why would anyone give big bucks $$ to the cause? The baseball and lacrosse big donors are still waiting for their rebates.

The SoCON is split among the schools on what course and direction needs to be made as well.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
