Current standings and what’s left for each of the top 6 teams. Should be a fun next 10 days with lots of key matchups with all the top 6 spots up for grabs.
1. Chattanooga 12-3 Citadel, @UNCG, @VMI
2. UNCG. 11-4. @Mercer, UTC, Samford
3. Samford. 10-5. WCU, @VMI, @UNCG
4. Wofford. 9-6 ETSU, @WCU, Furman
5. ETSU. 9-6. @WC, Mercer, @Citadel
6. Furman. 8-7 VMI, Citadel, @ Wofford
IMHO I would rather play ETSU or UNCG the first game, rather than WC or Samford. Either way FU’s first game will be either the 6:00 or 8:30 game on Saturday.

More than likely we are going to have to beat 3 of the 5 to win the tourney so order doesn't really matter.

True but just think it would be tough to beat Samford 3 times in a row or playing WC the last game and then turning right around and play them the next game, of course WC would be in the same situation.

The “tough to beat a team 3 times” has been debunked every basketball season around this time. The team that wins twice usually comes out on top in the 3rd game. So I’m out on wanting UNCG. Give us Bucky Ball or ETSU. Or WC if we win next weekend in Spartanburg.

Agreed. May need someone else to eliminate UNCG. They are rough. Seem to have our number. We don’t match up well.

The tough to win three times in a season thing applies if the teams are evenly matched. The team that lost the first two times sometimes plays with more motivation The third time the earlier winner can be complacent. Sometimes, however, it means the two time winner just has a competitive advantage. We lost twice to UTC and UNCG because
they were effective at pressuring our guards. Can we make the needed adjustments if there is a third meeting?

Looking ahead a little - Wofford has not been the greatest home court team this year. They lost at home to UNCG by 2 but beat them on the road by 12. They lost at home to VMI by 7 then beat them on the road by 39. They lost at home to Chattanooga by 9, but took the Mocs to OT on the road in that loss.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
