The article made it pretty clear it was up to the players and they didn’t want to play unless it was the NCAA or NIT. I respect that decision since the boys left it all out on the floor in Asheville. I’m sure there is also a cost incurred for these tournaments as well so that has to be weighed against the benefit of the CIT/CBI.

The main goal is to return the 5th yr guys and be prepared to compete in the Basketball Classic this Fall. I trust the coaches, players, and AD to make the call on how best to do that. Selfishly I always want to see post-season play, but they don’t make decisions based on what I want.
Maybe they all knew about UofSC situation and likelihood, whether or not we won the SoCon, at least by the time NIT invites went out freeing UofSC to execute Martin’s firing.

Women lost by a bunch today in front of an official attendance of 37. I cannot help but wonder what the expected long term benefits will be.

SoCon women's basketball is really bad

Also expect Mercer to get killed by UConn tomorrow

Maybe sympathy. I certainly felt sympathy for Howard. Very wide talent gaps in WBB, apparently.

Mercer didn’t fare very well in the women’s NCAA, 83-38.

Nicely symmetrical score though.

One of the Bears best 2 Players injured her elbow in the 1st half and did not return to the game, but they were heavily overmatched facing UConn’s 4 6’5” Players regardless of that injury…and then their shooting, in what was a home game for UConn, was abysmal. Down by 20 at half and then ‘lost’ the 3rd Quarter 20-0.

This Mercer Women’s Team compares rather poorly to the Bears Teams that nearly took down highly seeded Georgia and Iowa (both ‘home games’ for the ‘big’ schools) in 1st round games of a few years back.

This one was lambs going to slaughter.
