He was on espn upstate at 6 tonight. He said he didn’t say much in the locker room. Lots of tears from everyone, coaches, players, friends, family, kids etc. Said when they got back to the hotel everyone just sort of navigated to the media room where they pretty much took turns laughing and crying, Said he looked up and it was 2AM. Called it a night and was told the next morning the players stayed until 6AM. They had a team meetng at 11 before leaving Asheville. Not gonna try to say what he said but he did say he told them they could use this as a stepping stone or a stumbling block. Need for this to propel them in the off season, Said we have a lot coming back next year(hopefully JS, MB) and would contnue to develop the younger players. When asked about the NIT he said the staff took Tuesday and Wednesday off and got back together today and they would practice Friday, Saturday and Sunday to be ready for the NIT IF they get a bid. Said it would depend on the one seeds winning their tournaments. If they do not get the bid they would shut it down for the year. Take a week or so off and get back at it the first of April. Said he would meet with each player individually. Take a little time off the end of May then in June everyone will be on campus including the freshmen. Would take a short break in August then it will be full speed ahead until the start of the season. They did ask about transfers and noted that UTC had 8. Want go into all that but in CBR is not opposed to transfers and said we would not have had the success we had without Conley Garrison. Talked sbout culture etc, Marc Ryan said on his way out he saw cheerleaders, parents, fans with tears streaming down their faces. He said that just showed how much everyone cares for this team. Marc Ryan said he truly believes that Furman will get an NIT bid. We all are praying he is right. There is not a more deserving team in the country. Go Paladins!

I don’t understand the surprise at not taking a bid to a lesser tourney. The quote above led me to believe all along that it was NIT or nothing.
