Starting qb may be hurt? N. 8. Gabarri Johnson

Stats and my worthless thoughts.
Samford lost to UTC 3 - 19. Like Wofford , samford could not run at all on Chatt. 20 rushes for 20 yards. 35 yards lost to sacks. But then again, wofford got CRUSHED by UTC LOS also so I think that’s more UTC being strong than Samford being horrible. UTC only threw FIVE passes vs Samford. The rushed on every play. Same as they did to Wofford. Just said “we are running no one can stop us “
So not sure UTC is a good comp. We couldn’t do what they did to Wofford on LOS.

Samford just played Mercer. Lost starting QB as noted above. MIGHT play this week. Their fans do feel number 8 gives them a better chance. Regardless, the Mercer QB. RAN for 86 yards and 3 TDs !! Mercer has switched to Pickles, their running QB. this has to be something we look to exploit. Mercer also rushed in total for 40 attempts for. 280 yards ! 7 yards per carry. Wow
Samford did get 350 yards on Mercer, 230 of it in air. So Samford ran much better v Mercer gaining 120 yards on ground. vs the 20 they gained on UTC.

I think it’s all the same for us. DONT LET GUYS BEAT YOU ONE ON ONE ON DEEP THROWS. give em 20 yard pass gain instead if necessary. DONT MAKE BONEHEADED mistakes like first q of Wofford. PLEASE stop with the false starts and mental errors

SCORE ! Get to 25 by putting players in position to be successful…. Throw to Pryor if available - he consistently catches the ball. Run North South w Croasdale. Block the freakin left side of the OL !

No mention of Garcia being ready this week. Without Garcia don’t expect much in the way of a running qb.

I'm wondering how this comment ages when Sam QB goes 32-40 for 250 yds while dinking and dunking down the field :) :) :)

well played, but at least they could get a penalty or something (I do realize that was always the theory employed here and as FCS got better at throwing - vs just option runs - this allowing dink and dunk quit working as well). KEY EXAMPLE when we lost to App State - "BOONE, N.C. ?€“ Richie Williams completed one of the most prolific performances in NCAA history with a 13-yard touchdown run with 35 seconds remaining to give No. 21 Appalachian State University a heart-stopping 30-29 victory over No. 2 Furman Saturday afternoon at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Williams set new NCAA all-division records for completion percentage and consecutive completions in a game. The junior from Camden, S.C. connected on 40-of-45 passes (88.9 percent) for a school-record 413 yards on the afternoon and shattered the national collegiate record with 28-consecutive completions, a streak that stretched from early in the first quarter into the fourth quarter. Williams' 40 completions and 440 yards of total offense were also the best marks in Appalachian history, while his favorite target, senior wide receiver DaVon Fowlkes, tied a school record with 14 receptions. Trailing 7-3 at halftime, Williams completed his first 19 passes of the second half to lead the Mountaineers to a pair of third-quarter touchdown drives and a 16-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. "

Oh, I remember those days. I do think our corners and safeties - all but ONE of our five - are much better now.
Tarver is on the top 10 safety list of all FCS ! also All-Conference safety
Freshman Safety Braylon Peebles has been named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List, it has been announced.
CB Easterling has 3 INTs and got 2 vs Mercer I think winning D player of the week
AK Burrell is all conference safety

Dam SC State and Wofford just blew through us 25 seconds into the game. which is so demoralizing with our offense that can't score 20 .

besides, COACH the mofo up to not get beat in any fashion or give him safety help and let Easterling take the 1 on 1.

I mean EVERY DB WE HAVE except one is on an award list. Peebles just got named to the Jerry Rice Award list ! congrats

Just so you know, Samford was originally Howard College in Marion, Alabama. After they moved to Birmingham the remnants of Howard in Marion created the Marion Military Institute. That's a mean place.

But their evil roots don't stop there. In 1926 Howard students, known Baptists all, stole the Birmingham Southern mascot - a taxidermied Panther. The Howard boys let their Bulldog tear it up. That's not right.

An aside: In 1939 Birmingham Southern dropped football. Now they no longer exist as an institution. A coincidence? Er, sure, and Jeffrey Epstien killed himself. Sure.

In 1969 Howard College changed its name to Samford, to honor a trustee so named, and I guess to further foment their hotbed of free-wheeling Protestantism and general fishheadedness.

In 1989 a Professor Slagle of Samford stabbed one of his students. Twelve times. The student died. The motive was not clearly known. I guess that's just something they do from time to time over there.

Samford comes into Paladin Stadium sporting a magnificent 1-6 record on the season, just having been defiled by Mercer 31-21. They have a decent QB and WRs, but our CBs can handle it. I predict this is the week our boys really turn things around.

Unfortunately we are sittin at 2-5. Also, their Mercer loss was w Mercer finally playing their better QB. Pickles. The one who scored a TD vs us in two or three tries. We were fortunate Mercer was not wise enough to play Pickles and rather stick w the guy who throws 4 interceptions. Ha ha. Samford is improving.

Of a huge note, they may not have their starting QB. HE left hurt during Mercer game after throwing only 8 passes. Another note in that they probably woulda played Mercer tough had QB 1 been able to play.

Best qb who is iffy is number 8. Johnson. Kinda hope we see 10 or 12

At 2-5 and having lost 4 in a row and incapable of scoring 20 points.... yeah, I skeered

Oh he had it coming awright.

State laws are funny. You see, in Alabama it is against the law to murder someone. See Alabama Code 13A-6-2. What the Professor did would be classified as "intentional Murder", which is a Class A felony. A felony, you say? Yep. If you kill someone in Alabama they may charge you with a felony. The penalty phase is equally harsh, this being a "standard" murder. Go figure.

But but but... can you kill someone in Alabama if they lie to you? Nope. That is still murder to them. But, what if you know they are lying? Still no. In Alabama that is still a violation under Alabama Code 13A-6-2.

So next road game to Birmingham you guys better be on your best behavior. You don't want to ruin your life with one of them felonies. Think once, think twice, think don't stab one of your students twelve times in your apartment when you two are all alone there and no one knew the student was over there at his professor's apartment doing or talking about who knows what, and it would be bad if you get outed in Alabama at a Baptist school for being something like same-sex attracted or have other oddly developed romantic peculiarities, such as looking for creative places to hide fruits and vegetables, or a Darth Vadar action figure. Or a coconut.

And that's why we need to beat Samford.

That’s a lot for a team that can’t score 20. Maybe today. 🤷‍♂️

This offense is totally unwatchable. Had a bye week and first six plays are garbage. Throw to the sticks on third down. Play calling hasn’t been any better since Roper left.
