Anybody already know some of the schedule pieces for next year?

I hope a lot of thought is put into completing the schedule for next year. There are always lessons to be learned.

Just what some have said:
8/31 Charleston Southern
9/7 @ Georgia St.
9/14 @ Virginia Tech
SoCon home games:
VMI, Mercer, Citadel, and ETSU
SoCon away games:
Wofford, WCU, Samford, and Chattanooga.

This is a good guess right now. FBS schedules still has Virginia Tech on 8/31 instead of CSU.

Yep. I was glad to hear Hendrix get a little salty and say 'I thought they would respect a tough schedule'. Soooo the committee wants wins over Pansies? Let's give em one.

Because we have a game to schedule still. !!

Win over PC. Gives you practice for basic plays. . Team starts rolling. We don't start 0-4 !!! Get in playoffs and get extra games and reps !!! Recruits like to see teams that make playoffs. It's all a cycle

Mercer just posted that they play AT Furman on 9/21.

Honestly as tough as they play us with their ‘real’ QB that’s not who I was hoping for on 9/21. That will be a tough ask if we aren’t hitting at 100%. We were at 100% this year and SURVIVED with Mercer on their third QB for most of the game. Riddle and Riley are TOUGH QBs. Almost beat us on one leg. And that dang new RB they found is a beast. Had Mercer had their starting QB or even just given Riley all game the outcome could easily have been different

It’s in Greenville but I woulda preferred a VMI or Western or someone first. Just shell shocked on bad September starts. We have two FBS and Charleston Southern. Now Mercer. At least CSU and Mercer are in Greeenvile. We can do this

Need to get our QB situation ready !!!

...so far.

With 2 open dates, 6 home games, and an all D1 schedule at present, they can reasonably schedule any ‘flavor’ of a 12th game into 1 of those open dates - 2nd FBS, Home or Away FCS, or home PFL/D2/NAIA.

I don’t know if they will or are even trying to add a 12th game since they released this several months ahead of prior year’s releases. But they probably could...and in FUBeAR’s opinion...SHOULD...or should, at least, be trying to.

Sounds easy but FU has not had any luck getting a 12th game.

True...but...

Furman already has 2 FBS games away & 4 SoCon games away. I doubt we want a 3rd FBS game & probably don’t want to have 7 away games...

Furman needs a Home FCS / D2 / NAIA game.

That is a smaller pond than the one Mercer could be fishing in...if they are fishing.

I'm sure their ears are on the ground, but I agree, if they were actively looking for a 12th game they wouldn't have released the schedule in mid-December.

Right. I THINK there is a big difference v. Mercer schedule.

Furman has 11 games total w. TWO FBS.
OOC we play Virginia Tech. FBS. Georgia State Not awesome but still FBS and they beat Kennesaw State. And Charleston Southern (FCS). Two FBS and one FCS

Mercer has 11 games total w ONE FBS. They play ooc - Austin Peay, Campbell and UNC. Two FCS and one FBS.

Lets keep this up to date w all SoCon OOC to compare. I have a feeeling I already know whose OOC is hardest

FU won't have the toughest OOC schedule in 2019. Here are 2 that will be tougher
Chattanooga: E. Illinis, Jacksonville St., James Madison and Tennesssee.
Western Car.- GWU, NC State and Alabama.

I'm comfortable with where Furman is on the OOC schedule. If you have to play two FBS games, I like having one of them be a imminently beatable Georgia State team. That GSU beat Kennesaw State this year also would not make it entirely embarrassing if Furman were to lose that contest.

Charleston Southern should be a Furman win and I expect we will give Virginia Tech more than they bargained for.
