Based on the AGS website I was convinced we were going to be IN so I was not shocked but was disappointed.

Shocked that ETSU (8-3) was one of the last 3 teams IN and that Furman was not one of the last 3 teams OUT.

My take:

Furman could not be chosen over ETSU when they beat us head-to-head and were 8-3 (vs FU being 6-4)

Furman could not be chosen over Elon (6-4) since they killed us-despite the recent trajectory of the two teams

The ETSU meltdown not only cost us a playoff bid but we would have won the conference outright.

Little did we know giving up second half points to teams like Western hurt us.

No respect at all for the Southern Conference vs say the CAA. I have to agree there is work to be done.

The spokesman on the FCS show said Wofford and ETSU had more significant wins than FU (only significant win was over Wofford). I don’t agree with that at all. I think it had more to do with the # of wins.

If we had gotten in, my best guess is one win at best.

There is still lots of work to be done. We need to develop a QB. Proud to win 6 of last 7 but we cannot continue the early season losses (0-4 in 2017 and 0-3 in 2018). Beat Elon or ETSU this year and we would have replaced them in the playoffs.

I want to be in the playoffs in the future but want HOME playoff games.

Then we need to win more than six games. The fault is not in the stars but in ourselves. Go 'Dins! I'm proud of what we WERE able to accomplish despite a terrible start.

CAA scheduling shell game continues.

Gotta get G-Webb and PC back on the schedule, play a dipstick FBS foe. That way we can survive getting drilled in a couple of league games.

Agree 100%. It’s clear the committee wants 7 or 8’wins as a number Vs 6 good wins. Wofford is most consistent to get playoffs and they schedule PC and Gardner Webb

not this year … 6-5 UNI, UIW 6-4 — this seems to have come down to not viewing our wins against… UTC, Western, Mercer, CItadel as quality wins. Which again speaks to the strength of the SoCon.

I agree that Furman should have gotten in rather than a sixth CAA team. The Elon loss plus not getting to prove itself against Colgate and thus get a seventh win were probably what kept Furman out.

He's an embarrassment for sure.

Should we petition the CAA for membership? Should we tell the SoCon that they're holding us back? Should we wait until we have won the SoCon outright for several consecutive years, or go ahead now and petition the CAA for membership? Seems that one thing we definitely need to do next year is to beat more teams and beat them by more points - whether it's Wofford, Samford, ETSU, Mercer, Citadel, Chattanooga, VMI, whoever (not so concerned about whether or not we beat any FBS team or by however many points). Every conference game and every FCS non-conference game is very important.
