UTC's most famous former football player may be Terrell Owens, but let's not overlook Hugh Beaumont. Yes, the same man who played Ward Cleaver on Leave It To Beaver. He got pretty rough on the Beave at times. He played football for UTC back in 1930-31, and must have been a fairly good athlete because he lettered his sophomore year.

What you may also know, and I should remind you now, is Hugh Beaumont starred in the 1956 film The Mole People. I don't need to draw you guys a diagram to explain what we're up against with those UTC sons of biznitches.

Ward was often told by June that he ” was a little rough on the beaver last night” - many a time. Other top Cable TV lines that flew under the radar. Dukes of Hazard “Crazy Cooter comin at you !”

UTC sounds like either a venereal disease or a cheap unreliable birth control device.

Could be the smallest crowd we have seen with the current situation and students gone on fall break of all things.

So far we have only beaten non-scholarship Stetson, and a SoCon foe in Citadel on an 11 game SoCon losing streak....

Hopefully we will prove something this Saturday and add a decent win to the resume!

Saturday promises to be a beautiful day for College Football at Paladin Stadium.

Who care if most of the students are absent? Me & The Old Guard make far more noise than they do, anyway. Especially when primed by a few Paladin Cocktails and Wicked Weed.

Look out, Mocs. We will Rock You!

From what I've seen, we would have beaten Samford like a drum.

I was scrolling through the roster today and I thought I would put on "paper" the number of guys who we lost before or during the season for multiple games (or the whole season) to this point:

WR Josh Harris (starter)
TE Josh Burrell (starter)
DB AK Burrell (starter)
WR Santino Varvel
DB Jalen Tate (2 deep)
Spur Justin Hartwell (starter)
Ban Alex Maier (2 deep - would play a lot)
RB Jayquan Smith (2 deep - still out from last year)
LB Raleigh Herbert (2 deep - missed a couple of games)
DE David Alabi (contributor)
DT Bryce Stanfield (starter)

We were down at least 3 starters before the season even started (Stanfield, Hartwell, Burrell), and since then we have lost at least 2 more for multiple games (Burrell and Harris). Add to that 3 guys from the two deep (Maier, Smith, Tate) and that's a lot of guys we were counting on playing a lot of snaps who aren't going to play a ton or at all for us this year. Not to mention we have a true freshman QB starting now as well. This team was already going to be young, but it's even younger than we all expected.

I looked at the ETSU and UTC 2 deeps from last week. ETSU has 0 freshmen starting and UTC has 2. Both their 2 deeps have remained relatively unchanged since the start of the year. Not sure how the rest of the 2 deeps look, but I would be shocked if Furman didn't have the most or second most number of true or RS freshmen on the 2 deeps.

Someone else mentioned it earlier this week I think, but this team has already faced it's fair share of adversity and is having to grow up on the job very quickly.

UTC will certainly be a challenge. I look forward to seeing if this team will be able to rise to meet the challenge.

Fortunate for us that the SoCon is weak...
However its a rough look for the SoCon that only one team currently has a winning record, ouch...

Control what you can. So the SoCon is weak this year...out of our control. Furman only needs to worry about Furman. Get better at running the football now. That we can control.
