PALADIN STADIUM

Paladin stadium’s capacity is being reduced again by expanding the purple seating to sections 2 and 4. The people that had season tickets in 2 and 4 will now have to pay double I suspect or move to sections 1 and 5. Not sure this is a good move.

I suspect you are wrong about having to pay double.

The current ones are double what I pay so if not double, a big increase.

What will total capacity be now?

Probably between 14-14,500, I think they took out about 1,000 seats the first time.

I am curious to know the reason for suspecting a doubling of prices due to increased purple seating capacity. Unless there is spill from the best seats to the lesser seats (and I doubt there is) then the change in seating inventory wouldn't be for pricing but rather for inventory utilization based on some forecast. Indeed, I would guess that the Paladin Stadium folks have two primary goals:
1-Revenue maximation
2-Attendance maximization (known as "dressing" the venue)

They do this by inventory management, sometimes called pricing and yield management.

One can develop a rather sophisticated linear program to accomplish these, but really they can be performed heuristically. The math isn't that complex. Everything is supply and demand, and while there may be a lot of inelastic demand out there, I kinda doubt an increase in premium capacity signals a price rise.

But then again, I can get things backwards. I should probably stick to possumry.

Renewed my four seats in Section 2 for $200 each...there are six home games this season. That's a far cry from a massive increase and, IMHO, well worth it for the armrests and extra legroom. If people don't like the $10 increase they can simply stay in their current section or move to one that's cheaper. $30 for seats like this on the ~40 yard line, to see a playoff caliber team, is a good deal. If you don't think so you should probably go to more away games. It's the year 2024 not 1994.
Some of y'all make complaining a skilled art-form.

My seats are in Section 2 and have been for years. I can live with the price increase but they buggered up my location and I don't like it.

Will call Furman tomorrow and see if they can offer me something more acceptable.

I know my friend paid almost $300 per seat for the middle section(3) which was about $60 each. That was what I was going by. That was doubke what I paid. If they can give you chairback seating for no increase that is good.

I called the Ticket Office this morning and the representative did an excellent job of explaining the seating changes and accomodating my needs.

Extra legroom is definitely a good thing and should be worth the higher price.

Florida State is doing the exact same thing with their stadium, reducing numbers to create more legroom. They don't draw the numbers they once did in the Coach Bowden years. It is still a big venue but less seats.

I think that Georgia Tech significantly reduced their seating numbers numerous years ago.

They should have taken out more, lol.
