Looking ahead in SoCon

Big assumption that we win out, but just to keep things interesting let's say we do and finish 6-2 in league and 6-4 overall.

So that would give Chattanooga and Mercer 3 conference losses and they would be eliminated from SoCon championship discussion, but UTC would still be eligible for at-large playoff spot if they finished 8-3 or 7-4 assuming they lose to South Carolina.

Elsewhere we need ETSU and Wofford to get at least one more conference loss each and Samford to get one more. ETSU at Mercer and Wofford at Samford this coming weekend would be great opportunities. So go Bears and Bulldogs.

In week 11, Wofford at WCU and Samford at Citadel look like wins for the road teams, but you never know.

Samford at ETSU in week 12 could decide the title. It's the only conference game besides Furman at Mercer on the docket.

So we are still in contention, but are scoreboard watching hard in addition to trying to get three tough wins.

crazy with all our difficulties we are one miserable quarter at ETSU away from being in first place with Wofford and holding the tie break

IF IF IF we win out you will always have to wonder if we had played Colgate... we would have been in with a win. I am not so sure we would have beaten Colgate this year but it stinks we never played. Because same games as last year and we went to the playoffs at 7-4 w same wins and losses basically. And a more signature win this year in top 10 Wofford. Last year 7-4 we got in the playoffs w our best win as top 30 Colgate.

Again, Colgate has given up about 5 points in 5 games (I swear they have 3 or 4 shutouts) - I am making that number up .. not gonna look but they have been phenomenal on D. So I am not sure we would have won anyway.

FWIW Colgate is 7-0 and has not given up a TD since the first game when they beat Holy Cross 24-17. They have given up 2 FG's the last six games with 4 shutouts.

I said at the time that the meltdown at ETSU could very well come back to haunt us and right now it certainly is.
