PROs

1) Great win. Awesome.
2). LOVE BEATING CITADEL
3). NO TURNOVERS for us
4). We had to fight field position a lot
5). D was great !!!!!!. Interesting Woffd tried to get outside w option. We shut it down. Same today. Love our option D !!! Citadel did find some success going straight at us. Citadel was much better just coming straight at us w FB.
6). Staggs is 6-0 vs Citadel as a D coordinator

CONS
**. third quarter our OL was BAD. Our own Radio announcers called them out. Not that they were young/hurt. That is understood. The FU radio crew Said the OL was taking plays off - Cobb(?) said they were taking a lot of plays off and had little effort. I haven't seen that much defensive penetration into our backfield al year. Man. Glad to see them get it back together in fourth Q !!! Way to get it back together and fight in the fourth Q guys !!!

*. We still need to work on PASS D. When the Citadel of all teams comes out and throws on their first 4/5 plays that says something. To me it says both that they respect our option D and that they don't respect our pass D as much as they do other pass defenses.
This will be big vs Chatt.

Thanks. Obviously QB is a conundrum though today gives hope. Way to go Lincoln!!!

But I went back and watched a few highlights. Kroeber and Layton were not in the game much (if at all.). That's a THIN OL. Esp since Kroeber backs up at another position.

Any word on Kroeber or Layton?

Again PM is fine if you prefer.

I haven't studied it in detail, but I think Layton played a good bit. It almost looked like we were rotating OTs like you might rotate running backs. Godwin, Layton, and Auer all seemed to be in and out.

Too bad the Greenville News wasn’t there. Not a word today. Not even a score. The note beside the schedule in small print was “late”. Well, 5:00 is pretty late if you’re a dying breed.

The Post always does a great job covering Citadel as well as they have covered Furman well during our playoff runs of the past. He did have a major typo - he mentioned Roberts was Black's cousin - he meant Lincoln.

?? Does Hagood have instant replay? It ended up not hurting Furman - actually might have forced the team to get it's back up - back I've watched the down punt over and over and the Bulldog players foot was obviously on the end zone line.

Concerning our pass D - The Citadel came out with a completely different gameplan - no one was expecting them to pass 16 times. We got caught looking in - a potent option attack does that to you.

I expect to see some big sack numbers the next several weeks - watched the UTC/VMI game - I think we will need to be active and our defensive line speed should be very disruptive. Chattanooga showed the way to disrupt the VMI QB, once they started rushing six they took control of the game.

JeMar Lincoln seemed a lot more comfortable today and did a very nice job with a limited play book. Don't know if the staff is pulling Grainger for the remainder of the season in order to red shirt him or not. I believe he still qualifies under the new rules.
The key to the this game was the running of Keeland Dirks in getting us out of a terrible situation. He did a lot of that on his own too. RB's were good all day. Did Morehead play at all?
I assume Harris Roberts is a week by week situation. We are clearly a much more dangerous team offensively with him in the game. The coaches are confident enough in him to open the play book much more. I get the sense that this offense is potentially more potent than we have seen thus far this year. We have some really terrific athletes all over the field who can do a lot of things with a football. (#'s 10, 83, 11, 82, 31 and Jake Walker come to mind)
The O line is still a work in progress but we missed Kroeber a lot today.
Defensively, a couple of guys who do not get much ink but are doing a very good job every week are Jordan Willis and Hodges. That little fire plug is tough to block and made a few really good plays yesterday.
Does anybody know what that whole thing with Hamp Sisson was all about? It was a very bizarre switch to begin with and then the poor kid came into his first college game and the roof came down on his head. I don't think Lincoln was hurt or ill, so what was the thinking at that critical juncture of the game?

Just my thinking but I think they redshirt Grainger and go with JeMar and Hamp Sission with HR playing when cleared. Looks like they could still reshirt Hamp Sission with the new limit. I think Coaches were trying to put Hamp Sission in a meaningfull series to see what works but obivously the sky fell in. Hamp never really got a good look.

As I understand it: DG played against Clemson, Elon, ETSU, and Samford. He cannot participate in any more games this year and still redshirt.

HS played yesterday in his first appearance of the season. He can participate in each of our last three games and still redshirt.

JL redshirted last year. Look for him and HR to carry the load the rest of the way. If we can build a substantial lead aginst our remaining opponents, HS will see some action.

I think you are absolutely correct. Anything else would not make sense. If HR cannot go JL has proven he is a capable #2. No point in playing DG the rest of the way. Would be nice to get a look at HS in a less stressful situation.

geez… Hamp was thrown into the fire, it looked like the entire DOG defense was in the backfield the minute the ball hit his hands on the two plays he was in there.

As it did the second half last Saturday. Also Lincoln was sacked our last offensive play. Seems anything that requires time to develop our pass protection breaks down. Guys not able to stay on blocks. Last year we excelled in keeping PJ upright, this year it's Katie bar the door. Good thing is our OL is young and this is correctable.
