Game Day Experience

Did anyone ever hear anything the referee said? Why has there always been an issue with this system? Additionally, the professor who sang the alma mater also could be heard. Does anyone check these things before the game.

Kudos to the band for, hopefully, starting a new tradition of playing the alma mater at every game.

No the sound system was bad. Agree seems like it is always a problem. Another negative at the concession stand instead of having the game on it is the menu. 🤷🏼‍♂️There has been talk of buildng an end zone building. Instead I would like to see an upgraded sound system and a new video board. Our video board is small and too far away from the stands IMHO. While we are griping, lol, thought I would like the new chrome helmets but they really don’t show well at least at night. The logos were invisible, could have been anything on the side of the helmet. Hope we are in our traditional all white next Saturday. One last thing is the band continues to shrink.I counted barely 50 playing members. they are nearing WC pep band status. Remember when they were 100 or so strong and loud and proud, not anymore.

Crowd noise was very minimal and dead yesterday as well, not much on 3rd and 4th downs to make other teams sweat playing in Paladin Stadium....................

It's the Purple numerals I have a problem with. When the sun goes down they are unreadable.

Not on-site Game Experience, but was definitely an ‘experience’ for those of us who couldn’t make it to Paladin Stadium Thursday night and watched the ESPN+ broadcast…

Not sure if the On-Air Talent had the window to their booth window open and the sound from the sidelines was somehow focused into their mic’s in the box OR if the ambient sound mics on the sidelines were just ‘mixed’ too loud, but it was really hard to hear the announcers over the cheerleaders / crowd noise(?)…and could even hear conversations on the sidelines over the announcers.

Love hearing the cheerleaders and the crowd, but not to the point that the announcers were barely audible. Someone ‘in the truck’ needs to tune into the ‘end-users’ experience going forward and make the necessary adjustments. Audio was no bueno. Video / Camera-work was good though and what FUBeAR did hear of the announcers, they seemed to be doing a good job.

Just like the Team - everyone comes away from Game 1 with things to improve.

I would like to see the chrome with road whites just once, preferably in the daytime. Back in the day, the dull grey helmets gave the road whites a dingy look but the chrome might be the thing.

Haven't they always done that? We did when I was there, which is why I still don't know the melody of the thing. I could sing you the tuba part, though.

We have Iconic FCS (1AA) unis--especially all white--yet people want to go with a helmet that makes us look like western KY and uniforms that look like they were found in a sales bin at Sam Wyche sporting goods because they didn't work for Pickens high or Willie Wonka. Fine to do an alternate for one game to make the players happy but just stick with the basics. Let's not be like Berea or some other wannabe high school team.

Haven't done it for years, except for Homecoming. The wife's been begging for it. Many of our conference opponents play their alma mater after every game/

Looks like the band is going the way of the dinisaaurs, slowly disappearing.

Sad to hear about the band, I loved my time in the Paladin Regiment.

During my time there ('08-'12) the band was primarily music majors (50-60%). There were a few other students on music scholarships (10-15%), and then several students who were not majors but enjoyed marching band (30-35%). As tuition has continued to increase, the ROI for a degree at Furman to become a music teacher has become a bad investment. Unless Furman decides to heavily subsidize students who want to be music teachers and performers I don't see much of an opportunity for the band to come back.
