Golf outing at Lakeview Golf Club on Piedmont Golf Course Road. $28.00 cash only. Three Amigos Taco Truck will be there if you don’t want Fred’s hot dogs. Garden Spot Cedar Lane Road will have all the Bud Light left over inventory they can’t sell for $6.00 a 12 pack.

You don’t want to miss it. Shotgun start at Noon.

SoCon Football Media Day set for Thursday

Event to air live on ESPN+ beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET (Hmmm…should FUBeAR start a new M2M subscription now or wait until August … or September?)

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference will host its 2023 Football Media Day on Thursday, July 27, at the Hotel Hartness in Greenville, South Carolina. All nine league head coaches and two student-athletes from each school will be on hand to meet with the media and preview the upcoming season.

First-year SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross will speak at the afternoon’s luncheon. WSPA Sports Director Pete Yanity will conduct one-on-one interviews with the league’s head coaches and players during the afternoon’s media session, with those interviews slated to air live on ESPN+ starting at 1:30 p.m. ET Thursday. He will be joined on the broadcast by Jason Patterson, who will offer insights on each team.

Furman: Head coach Clay Hendrix; Tyler Huff (QB); Matt Sochovka (DT)

ESPN+ broadcast schedule (Thursday, July 27; all times Eastern)

1:30 p.m. – Southern Conference Commissioner Michael Cross

FUBeAR went to the Hartness’ house one time on “Feed the Paladins” day. But it must not have been this branch of the Hartnesses or they just hadn’t cashed in yet. It was nice, but not future luxury hotel nice. Maybe that’s where the skill Players like Standiford Jenkins got to go eat.

Why is media day not in Asheville? Not complaining it is in Greenville, just curious.

No reason to have it in Asheville. Only connection between Asheville and the SoCon is the basketball tourney. Recent ones have been in Spartanburg where the SoCon office is.

Interested to hear the interviews with Coach Hatcher discuss the team this fall where there's no roster posted and most of the new players are transfers.

Samford’s 2023 Football Roster can be found here - > https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sid ... t_Book.pdf

30 of their 47 (63.8%) new Players are transfers of some variety (JUCO, Grad, ‘Regular,’ Prep School - any Player that did not come to Samford directly from a ‘traditional’ High School / High School Football program.)

Hopefully we will find out the TV for this year. Anything besides espn+? Havent decided to go to Atlanta or not. Since KSU is playing as an FCS independant this year there may be no tv for that game.

5 minutes into Media Day and it's virtually unwatchable. Like its officiating, SoCon production is apparently 3rd-rate as well. First minute Yannity was talking but all you could hear was the SoCon background music. Went the new commissioner was interviewed, nobody's mics were picking up. Eventually they had to share a wired microphone, but it was hardly adequate considering they are doing the interview in a room FULL OF TALKING PEOPLE. They can't figure out how to filter out ambient noise or use a lapel mic? Hopefully by the time CCH is on they will have figured something out.

Things I did manage to decipher:
-New Commish vows to visit every campus to understand their challenges
-A new promotional campaign is on the way "SoCon Saturdays" to promote attendance and viewing in our region
-He's OK wilth NIL but sees it having a negative impact on recruiting at present

wonder if the media day was run by the white hat from the Samford game.
