No longer on roster:

Panning out, there's always potential for movement:

3 of 5 offensive linemen
All starting defensive backs. Really only Morris out of the typical rotation of DBs.
Looks like only Coleman and Johnson off the two deep defensive line.
Looks like all linebackers are still on the roster
QB
All wide receivers.

Couple of surprises on the no longer on roster list.

Jackal and I talked about this one earlier this year but kind of bummed to see Seth Johnson go off the roster. His profile listed him as Freshman, RS FR, Senior. Can’t say I’ve ever seen that one before but I assume he wanted to move on to another degree but who knows. Losing him and Coleman certainly cuts down on the heft on the DL.

None of the rest of them are that surprising outside of maybe Noah Henderson.

Looks like three players: Gilby, Blackshear, and Shiflett went from undergrads to graduate students.

I assume that is another plug for the new masters degree.

Glad to see Gerrick Vollmer on the roster. He will be a key piece to our 2023 OL

I think I read where the transfer portal has something like 1900 players in it.

Coleman, Johnson and Sochovka were as dominant a trio on the interior as we have had in years - just look at the freakish record breaking FG blocks. Was REALLY hoping we could have two of the 3 back.

I guess Sochovka is returning??

Pretty sure Seth Johnson wasn't even on the field goal block team. So, you're safe there.

Fixed the your with you’re So what you are saying is we are going from a good size DL to an extremely small DL.

Looks like we need to find a couple transfers to fill a few holes in our desired rotations

That's a myopic view, in my opinion. You are assuming everything stays static.

Matt Sochovka was 260 lbs when he got to Furman. He was 265 his after his first two seasons. He's now a 300 lbs space-eater inside.

Xavier Stephens got to Lehigh at 260. He played at 276 this year. With his 6'3 frame, I expect Bernardi & Co. will have him bigger than that next fall. Stephens quietly led our very stout defense in sacks this season.

Jack Barton was 225 when he got to Furman. He's now at 265.

Your comment just assumes everyone is going to stay the same every season. That won't be the case.

I expect we'll look for another rotational interior defensive lineman. Seth Johnson was a big body and came on strong this season, but also looks like he jumped a class and probably accelerated when we needed to replace him.
