Objectively.

PROS
- We finally got a turnover. Good stuff Patrick Wells(?)
-We didn't turn the ball over
-Better game management at QB by Harris Roberts stepping in
-Cam Burnette had himself a game
-We dominated for 2/3 of the game
-Jaylan Reid is a beast - thank you sir for always giving your all ! Saw him run down a RB who weighed at least 90 pounds less
-Defense was in the backfield a lot.. much more! than at Elon, granted I don't think ETSU is nearly as good as Elon
-OL played better in general
-DBs had a good game overall
- Amir Trapp had some good play
- We held them to 3/13 third downs. Rarely do you lose a game when you hold the opponent to 3/13 third downs.
-in 2017 ETSU gained 456 yards vs our defense. Despite us having less offense this year, our D held them to 377 yards this year in Johnson City.

CONS
-CHOKE in gut check time... the time when you find out what your team is really made of
-MISSED TACKLES. #11 made us look bad sometimes. We have to quit with the missed/arm tackling
-OL / coaches weren't prepared for last few plays of the game with heavy blitzing. Those last 3 plays looked like we had no chance ... maybe run a screen on 2nd or 3rd down when you see they are bringing 6 or 7 guys. QB has to see that and adjust.
-mental error on kneeling the kickoff
-they killed us the last 1/3 of the game
-makes you wonder, what if they had played Heinrik(sp?) the entire game at QB? scary - he ate our lunch
-last year we put up 609 yards of offense vs ETSU.. this year?? 288. That's worrisome.

THE BIG CONCERN - This was our best offensive output of the year I am pretty sure... and how many yards did we get??? 288. That ain't going to win many games. at. all.
350 yards gained should be a minimum with 400++ yards gained in a game if you want to win a lot.

That said, ETSU is a team that has had offense at times - you have to outscore them. Last year with a playoff caliber team we won 56-35 so it isn't like we held them fully in check. We outscored them. Last year they had 456 yards of offense. We just beat them because our offense clocked 609 yards of offense vs ETSU in 2017!!!

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
