Congrats to all the Paladins that made these teams!

No real surprises. Pretty cool to see 3/5 OL as Paladins in the coaches all-SoCon team! Was happy Gilby got some recognition as well.

Interesting that several guys on these list have already entered the portal. ETSU has already lost the impressive Chandler Smith and their PK Tyler Keltner. Stone Synder from VMI already has several FCS offers including a few in the SoCon. Actually, it's probably safe to assume that anyone from VMI on this list has already entered the portal. Things look bleak over there. Pretty sure they had at least 11 enter yesterday along.

I clearly wasn't the only one since he won Freshman of the Year on both list, but I was very impressed with the WCU freshman RB Desmond Reid down the stretch. Yes, it was against Wofford, but he took over that game late as the rain picked up to help WCU get the W.

Yep - Reid has some QUICKS and great vision. He’s impressive when full speed. Think he was banged up after a few games and slumped a little mid-season, but started and finished strong.

Thanks FUWolfpacker - I wasn't aware of this. Glad to hear that Chandler Smith is hoepfully leaving. That dude was a beast

I don't track this stuff as much (I do injuris lol).. if anyone keeps up with transfers/portal I would appreciate it. Matter of fact I will start a thread. Thanks again to FUWolfpacker !

Should be a special teams award for blocking all those kicks !!!!!!!!!! 0 /7 / 93 should all be on there. And yes, I see Coleman listed as DL. Just saying they are locked in on PK/P/LS/RS as special teams. Maybe they should have an extra place if a team blocks 6 FGs !

I want to throw a BIG SHOUT-OUT to local product Jake Johanning.
Jake was a two-way player for St Joe; he would have been a helluva DE.

Jake was coached by two Wofford Alums—that left after Ayers retired.
Jake's offers were Furman and Wofford.

It proves Clay's eye for talent.

Disappointed Tyler did not make 2nd Team.
I find it hard to believe that Tyler didn't make it either! I have been so impressed with him this year! I am also surprised that Jack and Matt didn't get special teams awards. They deserved it!

Really hard for media & even hard for Coaches to put the Passing Stats ‘aside’ when picking these “All” Teams for QB’s…

Yeah, Tyler had a great year, but it would be really hard for voters to put him on either team ahead of Hiers and Payton with the passing numbers they put up this year. If Tyler doesn't miss 1.5 games this year, maybe his numbers would have been good enough to be considered for 2nd team. Either way, I think we're all happy he's at Furman! He's the right fit for what we seem to want to do on offense which gives us the best chance to win.

Tyler did get this Tier 2 award. I wonder what it would have been if he had not gotten hurt.

https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/arti ... 022-ranked
Well….here’s a nice challenge for #6 …and FU’s OLine and FU’s eligible Retrievers…and FU’s Defense (that should cover it) to accept this week…

The top 10
10. Matthew McKay | Elon
If there was a Comeback Player of the Year award in the FCS, Matthew McKay might win it. After leaving Montana State right before last year's playoffs, McKay brought things full circle by leading Elon to the playoffs after transferring during the offseason.

Tier 2 QBs
20. Tyler Huff | Furman

Understanding what you guys are saying. I was kinda hoping maybe Coaches & Media would look past the stats to the Bigger Numbers. Which QB - besides MH - did the most to help his team win? Down the final stretch, FP was 0-3. TH was immaculate.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
