Dropped to #33 in STATS poll and #34 in coaches poll. Coaches poll is a joke. NC Central lost by 30 to unranked Campbell and dropped 4 spots.

I messaged Stats and told them to take a hard look at the play that they didn't even mention in their game recap.

Honestly that's not as bad as I feared. Keep winning - and we can - and get to 8-3. I am almost sure that would get a postseason. Because drop clemson and d2 and that's really 7-2. May be all speculation but this is where the D2 game worries me. 8-3 FCS and CLemson is in. 8-3 w Clemson and D2 is 7-2.

For now, just win !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a little newer around here and didn't know the FCS Nation Radio guy was a Citadel guy who hates Furman. We may need his voice in a few months if we are a bubble team.

If Furman can force it's way back up, the SoCon may get the benefit of the same phenomena that benefits the other big conferences - if you have enough teams highly ranked, then many losses are never that "bad."

It is desperately difficult to drop out of the poll. So these teams at the upper levels of conference play will lose to other ranked teams, and both teams will just stay ranked.

Frankly, the biggest mover in the polls tend to be these "FCS Scalp" games. I don't know if we need the money, but some of these other conferences benefit from playing weak members of G5 conferences that are probably no more quality than your average FCS team. William & Mary vaulted up the polls after beating a weak Charlotte team. FBS Scalp = big movement up the polls!

While I like playing Clemson, sometimes I wish we could just go beat the snot out of UConn or Florida International.

28 and 31. It’s something. Keep winning and IF we beat WCU we would probably be ranked 25 and 28 in the two polls or something.

Then VMI looks easier than most….if a win we are at 6-2 which is really 5-1 dropping NGU and Clemson. Not that half the voters know crap. But the 6-2 record would catch their eye some. Maybe. 23 and 25 in the two polls. The STATS poll seems a little better than the coaches which is not saying much. The coaches poll is just horrid

Agree as always it’s so hard to get ranked. You have to beat a ranked FCS (that’s fair) or an FBS. Had we beaten Samford. Man. That’s ok. Have to move on and go 8-3 at least for post-season

Even 7-4 serves a purpose as it starts us higher next year. Again it’s hard to fall out of poll. But easy to stay in it. Ridiculous. 7-4 is not our goal for this year but still might start us at 23 or something next yr. 8-3 and a postseason berth (even if we lose in first round) and we might start next year in the top 20 ? Just appearing in the playoffs in this year makes it easy for pollsters to vote you top 20 pre season next year. Sure would help

I hear ya Jackal. I too wouldn’t mind the every other year vs Charlotte or FIU or what have you. If you win you jump 10 spots in the poll. We need that. IE. Just makin this up - something like - 2023 Clemson. 2024 Charlotte. 2025 USC. 2026 UConn …. Can we afford the smaller payday? If so that would be smart scheduling.

Because honestly we aren’t beating Clemson or Tennessee and no one cares (no pollsters) if we play them well like this year.

We have FBS games scheduled through 2026, all power 5 teams. 2023 SC, 2024.Ole Miss. 2025 Clempson, 2026 Tennessee. We have the opportunity to add another FBS opponent in 2024 and 2025 as those are 12 game seasons. That will be up to JD. Remember we had 2 a couple of years ago, one P5 VPI and on G6 Ga. State. Would love to see that again in ‘24 and ‘25.
