Might still be an ok day for the SoCon if UTC can beat UNA (Big South) and Samford can come back against UT-M (OVC)

Being optimistic, I hope we can have a final score against NCSU next week that looks as “good” as Mercer’s today vs UA.
4 years ago ago, we lost by 33 to NCSU. Mercer lost today to UA by 34.
If we get shut out at NCSU next week after getting our shutout today, It will be disappointing. So will “10-60” like VMI or “0-52” like WCU.

Oh.
Now WCU’s down 0-62.
Come on Catamounts.

Historically, Furman fares pretty well in these games. I don't think NCSU is a world beater, so I don't see a big blowout.

I don't read too much into anyone's effort against Alabama. The Tide can beat any FCS team as bad as they want to.

Don't know what to think of Mercer yet. They played a really bad team and a really good team.

I didn't realize they had their off week before coming to Greenville.

Have seen all 4 games FU & Mercer have played.

Pretty sure we are in for a SlobberKnocker in Paladin Stadium on 9/25.

And…after the Paladins take down the Wolfpack next week, we should also see an overflow crowd.

I haven't seen too much impressive from Samford at this point.

If they win this game, they'll have to feel like the stole one.

Welch throws a pick as Samford tries to win it.

Samford had 16 minutes of possession in 4 quarters. #Hatchattack

NC State loses at Miss. St. 24-10. NC State’s lone touchdown came very late. Strange game. There was less than 75 yds rushing total by both teams. (NCS 42 yds, MSU 22 yds) NCS threw over 50 times and MS threw 49. Look for NC St to throw it all over the field against the Paladins or they may think its s good game to work on their run game.

They may well be able to throw it all over the field vs us. As good as I think our D is - very good! - I still prefer to play a run team game vs a passing team. TTU just didn’t have much in the way of QB and they started out strong with a few nice throws. They just really didn’t
Have an accurate quarterback

Some of it is accuracy, but TTU's QBs had (1) virtually no time to throw, and (2) very small windows in which to throw.

They may not have been pinpoint accuracy, but their margin for error was very small against our defense.

I think you have to give credit to the Paladin defensive front.
Furman was aggressive and physical—credit Coach Smith and a scrappy group of men.
As Dan and David were saying on the broadcast Furman didn't allow the Eagles QBs to get comfortable.

Watched some of the Samford game—teams have to withstand the initial onslaught of their offense.
UTM was down early didn't panic and quickly erased a 21 -7 Samford lead.
And UTM had five first-half turnovers.
Samford had just 254 yards of total offense – including 37 yards on the ground.

I would much rather be where Furman is two games into the season than Samford.
Still, a long way to go—Mercer is going to be a big game.
