The Great Experiment

Beer and wine available from the concessions. Fail! Heard a story of some very foul language from a woman in Section 8.
Frats moving their tailgates inside the stadium. Fail. They bailed even before the half. student section emptied also.

She was right behind us. Fortunately I don't think there were children within earshot; but yeah, she uhh...couldn't handle her bud lights very well. Also, a couple of the song choices by the DJ were less than family-friendly? There's "hype" music out there, even current, that isn't borderline pornographic hah.

Just because one woman was an idiot doesn’t mean it was a fail Thought the student tailgate was a huge success. It got them in the stadium instead of outside in the mall. It was actually quite refreshing to look out at the mall and it be empty. Most students didn’t leave until after both bands played at half, Then it was the usual mass exodus,

I do agree with that; for more context, we discovered during the course of the game that the individual is not a season ticket holder and isn't likely to be at many games. Plus, she clearly spent plenty of money today. Go 'Dins!

I had thought the concession lines being long in the first and second quarter was because it was sort of hot. Now I realize it was most likely due to the wine and beer sales. Oh well.

Concessions underestimated the number of people paying by credit card, 1 or 2 card readers for 4 lines. That’s something they can fix quickly. Should be faster moving lines next game.

Attendance was 11568. I’d estimate about 3000 Aggie fans (probably generous) so that leaves over 8000 Furman fans. I’ll take it.

To what do we attribute the increase in attendance? If the emphasis on game day experience is already reaping results after game 1, I’m excited to see if we can build on it. It was a great college football atmosphere yesterday and I saw lots of new faces in the stands. Hopefully they will be back.

Nothing was a fail yesterday. I thought the new game day experiences were great ideas. Not everything will please everybody all the time, but efforts are being made and I applaud this. Good job FU!

Attendance was 11,500
More Students at the stadium
Good scheduling (NC AT&T is a good opponent with a good fan following)
Great visiting Band (I would like to see all schools bring their band)
An improved Furman football team
A nice win
Beautiful weather

I like to think of the "The Great Experiment" as a great success. Over the past decade or longer, attendance at Furman football games has been declining. We used to average about 10,000 per game. The average attendance in recent years has been about 6000 per game.

I applaud Furman and the Furman Athletics program for their efforts. I hope that they continue to build on success., continue to put energy in our program (creating more buzz), and continue to try new things. The efforts are noticed and appreciated.

Students tailgating on the Hill a huge success, did you see how cool it was for the players to run through them for the Paladin walk, felt big time

Agree with others we need to invite every visiting teams band to come and play, some will take us up on that

Alcohol sales in stadium a huge plus, gotta have it in this day and age, and wicked weed endzone on scoreboard side is cool too

New Field looks really nice too!

Way to go, keep it going, don't stop the promotions keep pushing things FORWARD!

I thought yesterday was a great experience! I loved seeing the student tailgate at the stadium. I loved seeing a lot of the students sitting on the hill watching the game until after halftime. I loved seeing the student section full until after halftime, with a decent group who stayed until the end. I loved hearing the Furman crowd yell during third downs. For the last few years, I felt like I was in a mausoleum during the game. Yesterday, there was a lot of excitement! The Aggie band was amazing! We sat straight across from them and they were LOUD, almost too loud at times, but their halftime show was awesome! The Furman band did their usual wonderful job! I liked having the band before the game across from the Champions Gate. Great idea! Having the beer seemed to go over well. I feel sure concessions made a ton of money yesterday. I hope the Wicked Weed did well too.

Thank you to all who have been working so hard to amp up the gameday experience. The players seemed to feed off of the excitement in the stands. I know I enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of the home games.

Bet we made a killing on parking yesterday too. About time we started charging to park like everyone else.

I doubt it was a killing, but possibly enough to pay for the parking attendants.

I thought the atmosphere was fantastic. Credit to Jason and the game day ops team. Gotta figure out how to get the concession lines down but that’s an easy fix.
