We do now >>>
Luke Shiflett is 6-2
Noah Henderson is 6-1
Zach Peterson is 6-1
Ryan Deluca is 5-11
Bailor Hughes is 5-11
now Kelton Gunn is 5-10 not sure why that's an issue?

Also if you want to get technical let's add Ryan Miller - pre-season All-America tight end.
Ryan Miller is 6-2 221

And incoming freshman Joshua Harris is 6-2 177.
Harris had offers from eight schools, including FBS members Air Force, Navy, and Bowling Green

Back to the point of OP Paul's reason for the thread. Pretty sure Furman has two commitments already for the 22 Class.
So far no hints at who the actual first commit is.

Tre Mcleod plays DB for Trinity-Byrnes HS, Darlington, SC
6-2 180 known as a big hitter.

Choose Furman over Air Force, Navy, Army
Kennesaw, Old Dominion, Wofford, Fordham

Where Furman stands on recruiting.
Based on the hints on Twitter I think Furman has three commits right now.
So another commitment tweet could be happening soon.

Another great start to a recurring class - two long athletic players.
A 6-2 WR, and a 6-2 DB.

Also another area to watch for COVID impact.

Furman has 12 5th year/senior/r-srs on the roster. There are always a few R-Jrs that leave the program a year early and graduate. I think Furman tinkered a good bit with their roster to use the extra eligibility. I also imagine they'll keep some scholarships available to this larger-than-usual group of walk-ons.

While I cannot really get my head around all of it (hats off to the coaches), and I'm probably making most of this up, it looks like Furman is cleverly using the "free year" of COVID eligibility.

1. If you were a 2020 senior, it looks like a few of those guys are using the extra eligibility as "fifth years."

ex: Devin Wynn was a 2020 senior and will now play this fall as a senior.

2. If you were a player that benefitted from the new redshirt rule a few years ago, you are slotted into your proper class and not benefitting from the extra eligibility due to COVID.

ex: Cam Coleman played 2 games in 2018 and redshirted. He played 2019 as a R-Fr. In 2020 he's a R-Sophomore. Now in 2021, he's listed as an R-Jr.

This is similar for Travis Blackshear too, but for some reason they dropped his "redshirt" designation and call him a true junior.

This sort of makes sense, really. If you played 4 games as a freshman, and another 7 in the '21 spring, then you've pretty much played that season.

3. Players that didn't redshirt, I think, are taking the extra year as a "redshirt" year.

ex: Evan Jumper played a bunch as a true freshman in 2019. He played this spring as a true sophomore. Now he's listed as a redshirt sophomore. So, he gets back the redshirt year he never had.

I think this is the same deal for Ryan Miller. Miller played immediately as a freshman, and now looks to get his redshirt year back as a R-Jr.

All of this seems to keep everyone on track as though they were able to redshirt. I suppose this sort of roster mechanics is necessary for a small program that needs to continue to spots for recruiting.

Brian Bratton was a pretty dang good 5'9" wideout.

He was 5’10” but I didn’t say you couldn’t be a good WR at 5’9”. Just pointing out that seems every team we play has tall receivers, not all but everyone seems to have some. Not been the case at FU lately.

Carson Jones is from the famous Maryville, Tn. high school. 👍All-state in 6A. Good size 6’1” 205. Completed 77% with 22 TD’s and only 1 Int. Lookis like a good one for the 2022 season.
