This possibility is scary. The NCAA is going to put the nail in the coffin for the FCS.

I don't buy this one....this would require collusion and "entitled athletes" to buy in NOT going to their FBS school of choice (bypassing their 2nd option) and going to an FCS school....yeah this theory is a stretch....we do know there will be FCS kids trying to get into FBS schools and FBS kids at POWER 5 schools trying to go to Group of 5 schools to gain more playing time and exposure

Not buying this theory either. Way too complicated and way too many ramifications.

I doubt they will “place” anybody anywhere. They’ll just snap up whoever is good whether they placed them there or not won’t they?

yep...but they will also lie to them...

“Hey...we’re out of scholarships at you position this year because we have some older guys hangin’ on. They can’t play like you can and I’d love to give you their scholarship, but y’know, we don’t treat our loyal guys that way. We take care of ‘em. ...And we filled all of our PWO spots too with guys who play ‘not your position’...so, look, take your best offer & make sure it’s a place with a great S&C program....that’s the most important thing (UNSPOKEN- in other words, don’t worry about your fit or school or anything else...just go get bigger & stronger), RIGHT? And keep sending us your clips - games if you can, but we want to stay close, so scrimmages are OK too...we just want to watch you play (UNSPOKEN - ...against college competition, so we can reevaluate you next recruiting cycle). Oh...and take the easiest classes you can...I mean they need to be ‘for credit,’ and able to transfer here, but focus on getting big, fast, strong, and staying eligible. We’ll put you on a great academic track once we get you in here. Last thing - you know, by the stupid rules, I can’t contact you once you sign with Whatsamatta U., but you can send me clips, emails, stats...anything you want...and even though I can’t respond, my man, just KNOW I’m thinking about you every day and can’t wait until we can get you here & I have the opportunity to Coach you up. You’re gonna be an All-American for the Platypi season after next!”

...To be repeated annually to 500 kids.

Yep. About 9/1 every junior who shows any potential at all starts getting the bs texts from these dudes telling them how much they love them. Now they will just keep pretending to love them longer. Furman is helped by the fact that fewer of our guys are stupid.

LOL - ALL 14-26 year old male humans are stupid. Some are also book smart & some behave slightly better than most simians...but they are ALL stupid.

That’s why they’re so much fun to hang out with & Coach!!

Pretty fair QB hit the Free Agent wire yesterday...just sayin’

ChattaQuitta Fans, despite no longer having a Football Program, are already claiming his rights.

I was expecting Riddle to jump in. Seems injury prone though

Broken bones is not “injury prone” (unless he has a calcium deficiency).

He was very unlucky 2x - both times extending plays; but not Manziel-style crazy.

#1 - hangin’ in the pocket a little long. Got the ball away...and got smashed w/full body weight fall-on by big bellhop DLman - broken collar bone. Common QB injury in days when more DLmen fell w/full body weight more often on QB’s

#2 - good scramble & was upper-body-grabbed-full-speed-body-slide-into-legs-tackled by VMI Safety - destroyed his lower leg bones in 1 leg - compound, complex fracture. Kind of a Joe Theissman deal. Most common fracture non-union issue is tibial & his didn’t ‘une’ well after 1st surgery (I think) & he’s had a 2nd. Recently out of boot.

If his leg is fine now & he can run/play, his odds of breaking another bone are no different than any other mobile QB...

...sez FUBeAR...who broke the same bone in his foot 5x FR year...and has never since broken another bone - y’know, besides fingers & chipped elbow, and a rib or 3...nothing important...a little spit & dirt...and keep playing stuff

hate to see that. I heard he was a rare physical specimen for FCS football. Oh well, w McKoy (I sure hope he is healthy) and Hope BANDIT that's not a position of concern.

I'm not sure anyone is claiming him. I'm not sure if he has any interest in Chattanooga or if Chattanooga has any interest in him.

I do know that his family lives in Chattanooga and he went to HS here. I know we have an OC that he has played for in the past. I also know that neither Dray Arnold nor Chad Copeland did enough (from a fans perspective) to lock up the starting QB job for the fall. Even a lowly public school grad can put the pieces together and think there could be some interest between the parties, but I have no idea if Riddle will end up in Chattanooga or not.

I wouldn't be entirely shocked if Dray Arnold doesn't come back for the fall. He has two Bachelor Degree's and a Master's already. He want's to go to law school so he could decide to hang up the cleats and get on with his life rather than playing in the fall. If that happens I wouldn't be surprised to see us dip into the portal for a QB. Our other two scholarship QB's are Cole Copeland - who played a little this spring, and freshman Ty Gossett.

That is of course assuming that we even decide to suit up in the fall rather than drop our football program and replace it with bowling and corn hole. 8-)

I could say Furman would be a potential landing spot for Riddle, though I'm not sure he fits your offensive style. No matter what he decides, I wish him well (unless he's playing the Mocs) as he seems like a good kid.

I wasn't aware we had an offensive style.
