Looks like no signing day event this year, prolly because of the basketball game. I do remember not long ago they had one at lunch time.

Hero Sports has released their SoCon recruiting rankings as of 2/3. Furman is #1.

12 of the top 30 are FU recruits. Ty Youngblood is even listed twice and Jack Rhodes is a WR. :D

Wasn’t there an event for the first signing day? Today is no longer a big deal.

A few things about Hero Sports rankings and B Mac the author of those rankings. B Mac has some impressive cred - back in the day, he worked on the parade All-American lists. He throws out the star rankings and instead goes by what verbal offers does a player has and who are those schools? He believes if player X got verbal offers from Clemson, USC, Coastal, Furman, Wofford, and the Citadel then Clemson and USC decided to not offer written offers and committed to Furman. Those schools had to see something to offer a verbal - thus that player gets ranked higher.

He actually vets the player and the offers and contacts the players. Bailor Hughes benefitted from this jumping to #7. B Mac also makes it clear this is only a ranking based on offers, not a ranking based on how a player will turn out.

To the ranking and just how impressive this class is. Yes, Furman is ranked number one but look a bit deeper.

School breakdown
Furman 11 of 30
Mercer 5 of 30
Chattanooga 4 of 30
ETSU 3 of 30
Wofford 2 of 30
Western 2 of 30
Samford 2 of 20
VMI 1 of 30
Citadel 0

Furman 10 out of top 25 Guys, this wasn't even close.
The positional breakdown for Furman. Two linebackers, three defensive linemen, two defensive linemen, two defensive backs, one safety, and one athlete. IMO what's impressive is the positional group strength.

I do not believe the list even includes Kendall Thomas, who might be the best of the bunch.

You’re right, though. Using these metrics, Furman is basically by itself and it’s not even close.

Article is up. Don't guess it matters in the grand scheme, but they really should proof it before posting.

Looks like we might have a couple of somewhat disappointed parents. One family has a son playing at Chattanooga and dad played at Chatty. Another has a father that played at Woffy.

I meant to add a smiley face to this.

Don't all parents want better for their children.

I hope we see this transfer on to the field - esp vs Woff and Citadel. Need some nasty guys on D and consistent passing.

To my point Mercer often recruits very very well (and again this year they did) and yet is always a .500 team - you have to see it translate in the W L column
