New Poll

Furman drops 2 spots to 13 in the Coaches Poll. I guess they did not respect the close loss to a FBS team that just beat an SEC team the week before. I was concerned about the optics. I assume they will respect Va. Tech a little better this coming week.

THIS. this is always my concern and was with the TWO FBS year. some of them only see record - IF we are 1-2 next week don't be surprised if we drop 5 spots... some of these guys are idiots.. really. The LIU guy who has a vote said "their were no upsets in week 1" - um, JSU? WOFFORD??

Who are the three idiots who voted for 0-2 citadel? And how does a team who has yet to play a game rank #25? Amazing!

Makes me think less of any poll-when you play any FBS team and lose by a less than a TD-no way should you drop. Hoping to be 10-2.

You are starting to understand my fears... LOL

There really are some wacky votes on these things. The 0-0 doesn't bother me as much but yeah, they better not hold VTECH against us IF we lose. We play RIGHT WITH a team that beat UT.. and we drop two places? really? Some of these guys do no research.

RIGHT. and these polls are BIG in playoff weighting. BIG. NOT saying we can't beat VT but its very hard w their depth of athlete in Spetember .. you could see us wearing down in second half vs GSU somewhat. Someone once posted our FBS win loss ratio in Sept vs October.. October was clearly better. Just an interesting tidbit.

in any case, we CAN beat VT.. but IF we don't we just need to win the SoCon OR I think 8-4 and we are in w our beginning ranking this year..

I'll say it again, I KNOW the coaches tried but I wish POINT was FCS Davidson or someone and not NAIA. they held that against Chatt a few years back and left them home at 8-4 w two FBS losses. but I bet we would be in at 8-4 w our preseason ranking. Man do those preseason rankings matter ! I really just wish we didn't have two FBS but it is what it is

just to clarify - IN COACHES POLL we went from 11 to now we are 13..

I admit I was a little confused and AP was right - in STATS POLL we actually moved up (shocking w these voters) - we went from 17 to now we are 16 I believe:

AGS left us at 13. .. SO 13/ 16/13 in the three polls

The really sad thing about these stupid polls is that the really take them seriously come selection time. That is patently ridiculous. Half the time the equipment manager fills out the damned thing. These idiot were likely not even aware that GSU beat Tennessee and is playing Army in a few weeks.

GSU was a great experience for everyone last week. Minus the stupid siren, it was a fine event and FU really showed up. The crowd was great, the facilitie was fine, the GSU band was tremendous, the tailgate was fun
and we nearly blew their friggin shorts off in the first half. These snotty FBS schools in the southeast should be begging Furman to play them and they should pay us top dollar to come. We give their teams a good game, we bring our own dancing band and we show up IN SIZE. If GSU had played Wofford they would have had 5 guys sitting in the stands wearing black shirts with yellow bow ties while crying at a recording of their Alma Mater after the game. We had a sea of purple at that game and we had a good time - bad calls and all.

Let's just win out in the SoCon and tell em to shove the polls in an appropriate place. Maybe if we lost to Clemson in double OT we would have dropped only ONE place in their tiny little minds?

Speaking of Woffy. Who do the Yard-Yappers play this week? St. Mary's School for the Blind or that powerhouse from western N.C., Mars Hill?

Which poll/polls is most important come playoff time.

We need to go 10-2 and everything will fall into place.
