to your point, Grainger is only going to get better - we saw Saturday why the coaches are so high on Darren.
I'd think the Furman offense is attractive to high school recruits.

Cant wait to see him the next 3 years. Some of the throws he made while being a bit off balance showed what kind of special arm talent he has. The most impressive thing to me though was his accuracy at this point in his career.

This is some Drew Brees level of QB play...step aside to avoid the rush & give himself a throwing lane. Never took his eyes off the Receivers & then threw Gordon open, when he wasn’t.

Exceptional. Obviously, great Coaching & a young man who is sponging up that great Coaching at speed!

I watched that play a few times. Great throw and movement by Grainger.

I also just really like the design. Furman moves Thomas Gordon all over the place and I think it is difficult for defenses to find him. Here, he's in the backfield as a type of "A" Back and gets man coverage on a linebacker. There aren't many linebacker's we will see that can cover Thomas Gordon.

Grainger saw the mismatch, bought time, and hit an open receiver with a beautiful throw.

Went back and watched this play again.

This one stuck out to me because Furman - an alleged "option team" - has three receivers to one side (four total). I think the middle receiver is Wayne Anderson, who seems to be our 3rd down pass catching back.

In the context of doing the "little things," watch our two backs on this play.

Abrams - lined up in the backfield - picks up the stunting OLB by himself and drives him out of the play.

Anderson (who, I think, is in the slot) - runs a route, sees Grainger scrambling, turns around and throws a block that springs the touchdown. Not just throws a block though - he starts blocking his man with Grainger at the 12 yard line and the defender never comes close to making the tackle.

So, even when a play doesn't work exactly right, three freshmen do their jobs and spring a touchdown.

Great video, Jackal. Lots of good things happening for FU on this one. IMO, Anderson is a very special back who is destined to play a huge part in the Furman offense for years to come. Very fast and elusive runner, an excellent pass catcher and one heckuva blocker on this play for sure. We are very rich in running back talent at this point in time.

On the other side of the ball, keep an eye on #33, Josh Agbenou. I am told by those really in the know, his peers, that this young man has athletic ability not usually seen around FCS football. Another true freshman, he has moved into the 2 deep and is picking up PT at WLB and special teams. He's a 6'2', 235 pounder with room to grow with a physical capacity described as "freakish". This looks to be a really good freshman class that appears to be forcing their way onto the football field earlier that expected. A couple of DBs have also moved onto the 2 deep I see.
