Clearly a penalty. Refs got that call absolutely correct, in my opinion.
That is the exact play the NCAA is attempting to legislate out of the game.
I am also amazed that commentators and play by play folks are still so uneducated on what the targeting rule states.

Good job. Good game. Took down #6. A week off to rest up to finish strong. Can only control what Furman does. Samford like us still has to play Mercer and also They still play Chatt.

Hell of an effort by the 'Dins today. So many big plays today. The block on the last FG turned out to be huge as UTC had to go for it late vs the FG to take the lead. Gutty effort and proud of this team. I'm sure a lot of other stuff will be posted, good and bad, later but I'm just going to enjoy this for now! Go 'Dins!!

Gissinger here is almost certainly not an eligible receiver. Furman sits Shiflett in the curl zone, runs Miller into the flat, and virtually every UTC defender attacks that space. Dean just runs in the soft spot behind them.
That looks to me that Roper had a pretty good idea of what UTC was going to run coverage wise and just attacked it.
Looks like Dean was the outside receiver and he got 1 on 1 down field after the rest of the D collapsed in. Notice no one wide right. Ran motion from there. Gissinger was covered. They may not have picked that up sucking in an extra defender.
