I have a nightmare of refs from the Samford game from last year. As long as the opposing coach keeps complaining we keep reviewing.
FUBeAR was already in his car heading to S’Burg to whoop some a$$. It was EXACTLY like Samford - 2 reviews. Their HC in the middle of the field ‘directing’ the Officials.

Thank the Gods of the Portal the zebras didn’t FUBAR it this time.
FUBeAR. I hear this. People around me were talking about SAMFORD. I said yep this is scary. SOCON REFS ARE FREAKIN SCARY

Our RB’s need a lot of work pass protecting.
THIS. about got our QB KILLED. The Citadel had. A huge advantage when they blitzed outside (tackle area). HUGE. number 28 got JACKED UP By CCH after missing a block completely

Anyway GREAT WIN N.

GREAT DL wrk to stop the inside runs by Citadel.

Great comeback. CLUTCH PASSING IN COMEBACK WIN

LOTS TO WORK ON as Citadel is probably a 4 win team.
RUNNING GAME IS HORRIFIC. HOREIFIC BLOCKING FOR THAT.

PENALTIES. MAN. can we quit with the gazillion penalties. Especially on third down. (There did appear home cooking BUT SOME PENALTIES ON US WERE CLEAR

Never in doubt
I never doubted. When it was 13-3 I said we would win 14-13. When it was 16-3 I said we would win 17-16.

Football is a 60 minute game. In a rock fight with your despised rival you play all 60 minutes.

Defense held them to 257 yards.

All our goals are still in front of us. We are undefeated in conference play. Our Paladins grew up a lot today.

As Dabo said: You have to bring your own guts.

28 yards is really not that bad. Happy with the win, keeps hopes alive. Coaches need to realize to have a chance to be successful we have to throw it and throw it a LOT.

Just WIN baby! My father, who is 86, said I don’t care what they do the rest of the season just beat The Citadel! He can tell his Citadel neighbors to go ….. for another year!

Fortunately Citadel missed some scoring opportunities early and let us hang around. In the last 8 mins Citadel seemed like they had no pass defense at all.

We may not be a great team now or even a good team but hopefully finding a way to win will be a stepping stone moving forward. We snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

A great gutsy effort .We finally went to the real strength of our O , our receivers.
As much as it is not in Furman's DNA, I'm fairly convinced at this point that our best path forward is to just let Hedden sling it.

Our pass catchers - WRs, RBs, TEs - have a lot of depth and are a difficult matchup up for most defenses. It's just hard to cover all of those guys for four quarters.

Gman. I can relate. I fully endorse your father’s sentiment !!!

I said early in year if we have to have a “learning year”. … please beat our rivals. To me that’s Citadel and Wofford after the Wofford debacle last year.

Jackal. AGREE. it KILLS ME. KILLS ME. As you said it’s not Furman football… But maybe it is this year. I just want 150 yards rushing. Is that too much too ask? :D :D :D

We would be twice the team with just 120-170 yards rushing per game. Somehow we have to teach these guys to run block.

Legit question - Everyone says CCH is GREAT at teaching OL RUN Blocking schemes. I tend to think so. So do these OL guys just not have the run blocking ability? Is it a strength thing ? Why the huge run blocking decline ? I mean Citadel is NO JUGGERNAUT at all. Mercer and ETSU ran well on them. One of them ran WILD on Citadel. For 7.7 per carry.

We’re fine y’all. Just keeping it vanilla. Don’t want to put too much on tape for Wofford to dissect.

Well boys, ole FUATT was at the game in their dungeon. I did a shot of the purple drank in the FU shot glass and headed in with the fam.

That was a difficult first 23 min to watch. Defense in some ways played really good ball, but we had 4 penalties on either 3rd or 4th down where we had them off the field and put them back on that resulted in 13 of their points. We have got to stop picking that snake up and daring it to bite us.

Offense... We have to reevaluate the run game. Late when we needed yards we got them but holy bell tower we could not buy any rhythm early and the numbers speak for themselves.

RBs? Can you even pass pro bro? One of the reasons we were not playing one of the younger backs was pass pro. Well, based on what one of our RB was doing in that regard, come on down, you're the next contestant on hit the man trying to kill our QB.

QB... I think this was a huge milestone. HE WON US A GAME. It was one thing to get out there and play. Then he got a win. But this was a back to the wall, knife to throat, now or never deal and the kid came off the wall and make the throws and got it done. There are some things regarding getting the ball out and not taking sacks and especially seeing a blind side blitz coming and changing a protection so you don't get knocked into the next century but... he made the plays when the throw game was all we had.

We did not play the clean game FUATT said we needed to win, esp the penalties, and CID did. But we did some good things. We limited their explosive plays. I thought the defense adjustments to control their run game in the 2nd half worked well. And offense we just threw in the towel on the run game and let 8 throw darts like Ted Lasso in a pub and hey, a win is a win right?

I think 8 can believe now. And I think this team needed this. This team has seen more garbage dumped on its head than any FU team in a long time and its taken a toll and in spite of it all, they figured out how to beat a rival, on the road, who played well.

I was really, really proud of those guys today. They learned something about themselves and can build on this.

Lets gooooooooo.
