Also, I agree (obviously) with your point about our 4th down play calls. 0/3 on fourth down was concerning me. Especially the one we didn’t make in first half on the side of the field where they only had 40 yards to go once they stopped us and gave them a ton of momentum.

Of the parts I saw the only real concern was our combined 3rd/4th down conversion rate . One of the stats most of us agree matters. 5 for 16 combined on our third and fourth downs.

Otherwise. What a DEFENSE. !! Allowed only 316 yards. Strong. What a awesome run D !!!!!!!!!!

Mercer was averaging 40.3 ppg. They scored 13.

They were averaging 203 yards per game rushing. They ran for 53.

They'd only allowed 12 sacks this season. Furman got nearly half that many today.

Just a complete effort by the defense.

You can how Furman gets really good at this.

Sochovka and Coleman are basically lined up over the RG. They blow him off the ball. Not sure many blockers can withstand both those guys with the instruction to knock you off the ball. Barton cuts into the space created by the bull rush.

It doesn't hurt that Coleman, Sochovka, and Barton are all 6'3+ That's a lot of beef and length charging straight up the middle.

Didn't see this elsewhere, but Dae'One Wilkins was back in uniform tonight. Looked like he primarily played special teams.

He'd be a nice addition if he can come back close to full strength.

Seems to be saying that these Math Nerds are 91% confident that #1 Mercer would beat #25 Furman by ~18 points at a neutral site. So, add 3 since the game is in Macon and the projection is Mercer by 21. FUBeAR thinks if he could find action at FU +21, he just might rollover that $1.9B he picked up in PowerBall earlier this week. Thinking that might affect the spread a bit though. Anyway, fwiw, any Math Nerds here…enjoy digesting & deciphering this, um, array of data.

I'm guilty, perhaps, of not really appreciating our linebacking corps. Gilby and McCormick were a master class today.

15 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks between the two of them.

This play stood out. Fred Payton is listed at 6'2 220, had a full head of steam, and McCormick cold cocks him at the 2 yard line.
