Unrelated. I occasionally scan other fan message boards.

I've never seen a fan base as obsessed with one team as Samford fans are obsessed with Furman.

Samford fan base consists of 5 total people, and I am being serious

Their stadium is a small HS type facility. The last time I was there was 2017, they were good but had a small crowd.

Samford should have never been allowed into the SoCon, they provide nothing to boost the league at all

This is what Paladin Stadium visiting stands look like every time we play Samford, no matter what Samford is ranked

That would be great but they are moving to the once prestigious CAA next year after one year in the Big South.

The SoCon being a 2 bid league is BS. See below.

BigSky CAA MVFC SoCon

Sac St 10-0 W &M 10-1 SDST 10-1 Sammy 10-1
Mon St 10-1 UNH 8-3 NDSU 8-2 FU 9-2
Web St 8-2 Elon 8-3 UND 7-4 sucks UTC 7-4 ?
UCD 6-4 ? Rich 8-3 YSU 7-4 sucks Mer 7-4 ?
ID Ho 7-4 ? URI 7-4 sucks UNI 6-5 no way??
Mont 7-4 sucks Del 7-4 sucks

If UCD beats Sac St. then they deserve to be in at 7-4, but I don't see any of those other 7-4 teams that deserve to be in anymore than UTC and Mercer.

Mont, Del, and UND (losing) lost today too.

I guess we'll see if the bias is real. IMHO UTC and Mercer deserve to be in.

I mean, we may see a third SoCon team.

UTC has the better resume than Mercer.
Mercer played their way past Chatt & Chatt played their way behind Mercer today.

Bear I know you are prejudiced but don’t see how you can say that when UTC beat MU by 21 points. Unfortunately MU blew their chance because they had 4 downs to go one plus yard and coukdn’t do it. Nobody to blame but themselves. Unfortunately the SoCon may only get 2 in with today’s results.

Mercer was a bubble team until today. They are done.

UTC was most likely going to get in but they are done after today also.

Thus instead of probably 3 Southern Conference teams being IN, it is now two. For the sake of the conference I would sort of hate to see us play Samford second round BUT it beats going to a cold frigid place. Plus we sort of owe Samford.

The main opponents I want to avoid are those like Montana State where it is so cold. I would much rather go to the Fargo Dome (the 3rd round of course).

You can almost be assured if FU and SU are the lone SoCon teams they will be matched up. If a third SoCon team gets in it is 100 percent 2 of those will be matched up in the second round.

If the selection committee have been actually watching the games, we are going to get the #8 seed,. That is a big if.

The committee does use a computer model (I forget the name).

Hero Sports has Furman vs. Richmond in the first round, with the winner traveling to South Dakota State. If that is the case, which school will win the bid for the home game? https://herosports.com/fcs-football-202 ... inal-bzbz/

The Analyst has Furman hosting Elon, with the winner going to Samford. Give us that one. https://theanalyst.com/na/2022/11/fcs-f ... off-field/

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
