Charleston Southern, only one win this year and it was in Greenville...
This year we have contributed to that 'weak' SoCon characterization...
In a strong league we would be toast, but we have a shot in this weak SoCon

FUWolfpacker, THANKS for the listing !! Thank you !FUwolfpacker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:19 pmI was scrolling through the roster today and I thought I would put on "paper" the number of guys who we lost before or during the season for multiple games (or the whole season) to this point:
WR Josh Harris (starter)
TE Josh Burrell (starter)
DB AK Burrell (starter)
WR Santino Varvel
DB Jalen Tate (2 deep)
Spur Justin Hartwell (starter)
Ban Alex Maier (2 deep - would play a lot)
RB Jayquan Smith (2 deep - still out from last year)
LB Raleigh Herbert (2 deep - missed a couple of games)
DE David Alabi (contributor)
DT Bryce Stanfield (starter)
We were down at least 3 starters before the season even started (Stanfield, Hartwell, Burrell), and since then we have lost at least 2 more for multiple games (Burrell and Harris). Add to that 3 guys from the two deep (Maier, Smith, Tate) and that's a lot of guys we were counting on playing a lot of snaps who aren't going to play a ton or at all for us this year. Not to mention we have a true freshman QB starting now as well. This team was already going to be young, but it's even younger than we all expected.
I looked at the ETSU and UTC 2 deeps from last week. ETSU has 0 freshmen starting and UTC has 2. Both their 2 deeps have remained relatively unchanged since the start of the year. Not sure how the rest of the 2 deeps look, but I would be shocked if Furman didn't have the most or second most number of true or RS freshmen on the 2 deeps.
Someone else mentioned it earlier this week I think, but this team has already faced it's fair share of adversity and is having to grow up on the job very quickly.
UTC will certainly be a challenge. I look forward to seeing if this team will be able to rise to meet the challenge.
THIS... SO MUCH THIS.cavedweller2 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 6:01 pmUse the pass to set up the run.
My apologies for the blasphemy.
Dave, check your PMs whenever you have a chance my good Paladin friend !
Probably 2 more starters out after Citadel. We are approaching 1/5 of all scholarship players being lost for the season.FUwolfpacker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:19 pmI was scrolling through the roster today and I thought I would put on "paper" the number of guys who we lost before or during the season for multiple games (or the whole season) to this point:

It’s a rolling calamity.
Hey Jackal - don't be going glass half empty on me now...Everything we want is still in front of us! Weekly improvement...faster and faster. The Jackal wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 11:18 amCould just be one of those seasons.
On a positive note, if we are down a lot of bodies, it may be better that it came in a "reloading" year as opposed to a title run year.

Of course no shame in needing to "rebuild"...The Jackal wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 12:51 pmAllTimeFU wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 12:20 pmHey Jackal - don't be going glass half empty on me now...Everything we want is still in front of us! Not glass half empty. I figured before the season it would be a good opportunity to watch a lot of the future of the program. Now we're just going to see more than we probably expected to.
