Be curious how far Mercer goes. Obviously still to be determined. Do they get a seed?

Assume 8 seed. If so then a bye is given. Then they get to Scout the two possible opponents. It’s the next game (quarterfinal) I think is 50/50.

Mercers draw is great.

#7 Seed Bye & then Rhode Island or Central Connecticut at home. If they can’t beat a padded record CAA Team or an NEC Team at home, they probably didn’t even deserve to be in the Playoffs. We saw what FU did to CAA Elon in Paladin Stadium in ‘22.

Then, likely off to the FargoDome, but Abilene Christian (lost to Texas Tech in OT) and Northern Arizona are dangerous Teams. Maybe they sneak up on the bizuns, shoot their wad, and come to Maconga spent, after Mercer coasts in their 2nd round game.

If not, the FargoDome, despite the noise, might be better on 12/14 than being in Bozeman, MT or Brookings, SD.

With the new seeding rules and without another SoCon team in the field, Mercer gets the benefit of drawing the winner of the NEC auto bid's bracket, which usually tends to go to a CAA school.

Like pretty much every year, the SoCon reps are at some point going to have to win a game in the Dakotas. Mercer has a shot to get a playoff win.

It honestly won't be a banner day for the SoCon if we get one team in the tournament and then lose to a CAA/NEC participant in the second round at home, so here's hoping Mercer can keep it going.

I wish Mercer the best FUBeAR ! I want any SoCon team to do well in the playoffs. I truly hope you all (I know - you aren't a Mercer guy but that Junior Bear is) win at least that first game and make the "elite eight" and show well vs NDSU

I am not saying you can't win vs NDSU... but ONE at a time. The advantage of rest, healing and scouting.. . and PLAYING AT HOME can't be overstated for that first game vs CCSU or Rhode Island. I recall last year that UTC was banged up (QB, DPOY) as they came to Paladin Stadium. Scouting wasn't as much an advantage as FU and UTC know each other well. I am sure the good coaches at Mercer will have a scout advantage from an extra week of film plus the RI vs CCSU game itself.

I wish Mercer the best ! My very brief take from the very little I saw (parts of Mercer vs Furman) is your front 7 on D is strong! the back DBs are a little susceptible? As has been stated, for some reason, the Kickoff game of Mercer allows for a kickoff return... hope that doesn't bite them. Offensively you have quite a strong run game - I saw some good holes opened up by the OL and the RB is tough.
