In defense of Hedden, besides the coaches not helping him, all of our go to WR’s are under 6 feet so no big targets. Another reason why ignoring the TE’s is a head scratcher.
JaKeith Hamilton caught a few balls today. Look him up.

Holbrook caught a few too. Look him up as well.

I think the Paladins played better than the score indicated. Look at the stats! On total yardage, I mean rushing yards... well, skip that. Number of First Downs and average yard per play... wait, those are meaningless. Turnovers, penalties, and TOP can be better indicators... er, nope. Okay, wait, if you look at 3rd down conversions or net passing yards or something. Well, golly, I think statistics can be manipulated anyway. At least we had more fair catches.

Now, if I can just figure out how to edit a post before I hit the "submit" button I can save some embarrassment here. Oh this looks promising... what does this button do?

While TH was in the game Hamilton caught one, Holbrook none.

Bottom line, you can't cough the ball up 5 or 6 times and expect to beat anyone.

In some ways, the team played better than they did against the Citadel. The run game showed signs of life. The defense played well in the first half despite being hung out to dry over and over.

Coach Hendrix commented in his post game that maybe they are asking the offense to do too much. Perhaps they need to scale back and make a more manageable playbook for our current experience level. Some of the stuff is complete lack of communication and execution - like for the second week in a row Hedden throwing a ball to Hester who is blocking instead of being ready to receive a ball.

At the end of the day, though, we look like team that graduated 41 seniors and have lost 14 returners.

This season has quickly turned into some of the saesons years ago when you hsve to make yourself go to the games out of pure loyalty. Just not much fun at all.

Glad to see some run game. Good positive there. We do have good WRs and TEs. Hope we keep improving. Gonna be tough to win many missing guys like Xavier Stephens - all conference- and MAYBE Luke Clark - All America level ! Those are two of our absolute best on D. We all know Josh Harris is gone - all conference WR….

Maybe one day people here will quit picking us to win 8/9 games when we graduate so many players and starters.

. Furman isn’t just losing we aren’t even covering the spread (entertainment purposes) when getting 6 points vs UTC or 45 (!) vs Ole miss.

We are 1 - 5 against the spread. So even when given extra points we aren’t making it. Only time we covered? Vs Stetson

It's not the same team we were looking at preseason.

True. Absolutely Agree!! Which is why I find it odd the Vegas spreads have remained so out of wack. because those are adjusted each and every week. So they should reflect our recent scores. Market inefficiency ! Take advantage of em' !!!!!! (hypothetically :D

I know this is not a gambling board. Just interesting stuff here:

I mean those spreads should have been adjusted each week with regards to performance. You rich guys - not me by any means - can lock and load ! Hey, give the proceeds to the Paladin Club !

Cool note - just entertainment - FCS football and small / mid-major basketball like ours is the most profitable for those that try to make a living doing that. Especially the basketball (Furman v Wofford etc) ... since we are full D1 there is always a line on those. And there is very little widespread information. Used to the WNBA was a big key but now that information has become more widespread with the growing popularity of the sport -- this is all just entertainment but interesting I think ... ya'll might want to watch one of the ESPN shorts on people who try to be pro gramblers- extremely smart people:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Holzhauer

James Holzhauer (born August 6, 1984) is an American game show contestant and professional sports gambler.[1] He is the third-highest-earning American game show contestant of all time. Holzhauer is best known for his 32-game winning streak as champion on the quiz show Jeopardy! from April to June 2019, during which he set multiple single-game records for winnings, and for winning the following Tournament of Champions that November.[2]

Holzhauer won $2,464,216 in his 33 Jeopardy appearances, making him the second-highest winner in Jeopardy! regular-play (non-tournament) winnings (behind only Ken Jennings, who won $2,520,700 in 2004)

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
